My theory on all this is that the Super Bowl appearance in his second season which was indeed heavily influenced by luck of schedule (including playoffs) caused casual fans to think he should now be in a category that his sub-par weapons/OL and frankly his development curve will not allow for just yet. Without Brown, the Pats have arguably the worst weapons in the entire league, and he’s young for year 3. Quarterbacks take time, Drake is well ahead of the curve but he is not an elite week in and week out performer just yet, and that’s ok.

It’s actually an excellent point. Chase and Jefferson are still in their own leagues when it comes to gravity they command from opposing defenses.
