Many people are under the mistaken impression that Europe was somehow never as car-centric as the US, and has always been magically car-free. Truth is, cities like Amsterdam and Paris made a dedicated effort to give their cities back to the people. #transportation #urbanmobility
Remember this picture every single time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."
This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s, via @fietsprofessor.
The cities we admire made better choices regarding cars, and are still making them today.

Despite a slight increase in 2021, the UK has achieved remarkable progress in reducing particulate matter emissions. 🇬🇧
Annual emissions of PM10 have dropped by🔻79% since 1970, while PM2.5 emissions have seen an 85% reduction during the same period.
Over the years, factors like decreased coal burning and enhanced emission standards for transport and industry played crucial roles.
Although the UK fell just short of its 30% reduction commitment for PM2.5 in 2021, the overall trend showcases significant strides in improving air quality.
