Building a new battery technology is one challenge. Proving it under real-world conditions is another.
Together with Altris and InoBat, Clarios has reached an important new milestone in the development of sodium-ion battery technology.
Recent validation activities included successful testing under demanding operating conditions and cold-cranking performance validated down to -40°C.
These results strengthen confidence in sodium-ion's potential for future low-voltage and power-intensive applications and support the transition toward pilot-scale and small-series production readiness.

Stupidity: BMW gets €273 Million Taxpayers Money for Hydrogen Vehicles R&D
Prime Minister of Bavaria Söder: "Strategic alliance for the car of the future: The federal government and Bavaria are funding the new BMW hydrogen project ‘HyPowerDrive’ with a total of €273 million."
273 million euros of German taxpayers' money is being wasted on the most ridiculous project imaginable.
Hydrogen technology has been proven to be uncompetitive in the transport industry, but because BMW is good at lobbying, money is being spent that benefits no one, not even BMW.
You can't make that up!

Today, I brought students and visitors from my course #1KB738 #RechargeableBatteries to visit @Altris_AB, a leading developer of Na-ion batteries. I'd like to thank Ronnie Mogensen for arranging the study visit and Christofer Sångeland for giving us a guided tour of the production line. Both of them are proud alumni of our @angstromABC @chem_angstrom.
While my students have made their own battery cells in the lab - from slurry coating to coin/pouch cell assembly and testing, visiting a real battery production line is essential. The study visit will spark their curiosity, connect academic knowledge with industrial reality, and deepen their understanding of complexity and precision for battery production - it has never been an easy task!
The energy transition needs talent, and exposure is the first step.
