genuinely cried while translating this post from edison. the way he bonded so naturally with xixi and leizi, and how he seemed so reluctant to say goodbye to them, makes this little story even more heartbreaking. he really treated them like his own little family.

second repo and more information coming out from today’s the lament of autumn celebratory wrap-up event recording. the ones in “” are direct quotes from people who attended. check my previous post for the first one
warning: these specific reports came from the dongdongxixi super topic, so they tend to be more couple-focused. read them while keeping in mind that these are their own interpretations of these moments please:
lots of moments of the leads taking care of each other, like chenglei wiping xixi’s hands and such. they were laughing a lot, and it seems the vibes were very good
during a segment, chenglei was asked if he could only keep one nickname for pingjun, what would it be. everyone started cheering for “little wildcat,” so he started imagining situations with it
leizi: “little wildcat, are you coming down to eat?”
leizi: “dad, have you seen my little wildcat?”
eventually, he said “pingjun” might be more appropriate lol
then they were talking about how, for the people they truly care about, they save their contacts using emojis or very short names of just one or two characters. for example, xixi saved chenglei’s contact as “dong”
the host asked, “wouldn’t you get people mixed up?” xixi replied that there aren’t that many people she cares deeply about, so it wouldn’t happen
then there was a really funny moment when they were asked: “if their characters had phones, what would they save each other’s contact names as?”
chenglei said they had seen a funny video of a couple arguing, and one person angrily changed the other’s contact name because of it. so he said that after a fight, yuchangxuan would change yepingjun’s name to “the girl i met on a rainy day” lol
they asked chenglei what yuchangxuan would do with yepingjun and his son if he had lived, and he said he’d like to drive them around for fun, take them traveling, and buy them pretty things…
someone from the audience talked about how hard it was to accept the drama’s tragic ending and how yuchangxuan couldn’t reach yepingjun’s flower hairpin in the end. chenglei said that even though that flower pin didn’t end up in his hand, he had kept it in his heart for all these years. and while the ultimate outcome might not be a perfect happy ever after, the most beautiful flower has remained right here - while pointing at xixi (very sus behavior here i must admit 👀)
