If confirmed, this is amazing. And depressing.
We’re hearing Post has laid off all its photojournalists.

The Mississippi River is mostly frozen over between Alton and Grafton. Towboats are still able to push barges through but traffic on the river was limited today. There were also a bunch of eagles out on the ice & soaring in the sky; I counted 10, mostly juveniles @stltoday #stlwx

How can you claim to be refocusing on politics and then let go of one of the top political reporters anywhere - and in a year when Texas politics is taking center stage?
I was laid off today from the Washington Post’s campaigns team covering the midterms and 2028. I hear this is an important election year — and I want to cover it aggressively. If you’d like to work together, my DMs are open and you can email me at [email protected].

Laid off from the Washington Post, along with the entire roster of Middle East correspondents and our editors. Hard to understand the logic. But I am grateful for my incredible colleagues, whose grit and dedication to the reporting and each other I will miss dearly.

today’s mass media layoffs really go beyond “industry news.” we’re watching the removal of the people who explain what’s actually happening to us, beyond canned press releases and official narratives, at a time when we need that the most. healthy democracies need journalism!!

Dylan Byers embodies the worst of Washington journalism. Astoundingly naive of the narratives of the powerful in exchange for vapid and largely immaterial “scoops.” A precise inverting of the highest callings of the profession
Scoop: The Washington Post will announce its highly anticipated layoffs *tomorrow.* As we've reported, WaPo is expected to cut *hundreds* of jobs and eliminate sections, instead focusing on core areas like politics & nat'l security. Jan. 26: puck.news/why-the-washington… @PuckNews

These lawsuits aren't filed to be won. The standard for defamation is quite high. They're filed to drain resources that would otherwise be spent on, say, covering the news. rcfp.org/anti-slapp-guide/pe…

Waking up without power, heat, or running water. (Again.) But the work here in Kyiv continues. Warming up in the car, writing in pencil — pen ink freezes — by headlamp. Despite how difficult this job can be, I am proud to be a foreign correspondent at The Washington Post.

Two of the strongest parts of the @washingtonpost are its international and sports coverage. They have amazing must-read writers. If they are gutted by Bezos's publisher, it would be one of the most self-destructive acts in American journalism in years. Praying it's not true.
