I've been out for about 2 years: in 2016 I gathered up the courage to tell my closest friends that I was asexual. They supported me from the very start: not all ace people have that luxury.
A lot of asexuals face discrimination, even within LGBT+ spaces.

Being asexual and aromantic, I've realized this about #NationalComingOutDay: It's hard to come out of the closet when you don't even know you're in one. For a long time, I had no idea that asexuality was a thing, so I felt lost, broken, and alone.
