as a former public school teacher, this is correct 🫡
i saw it happen in real time and i still see it happening with the public school curriculum when i have other parents ask me about it
the dsa hates the star wars prequels but uses its roadmap
The past few days, I got my hands on thousands of new transcripts and hundreds of recordings, thanks to leads from @SKDoubleDub33 and @iamlisalogan .
You've heard that the DSA is proposing structural reforms to America, including abolishing the Senate and imposing term limits.
What you not have heard is - there is an operational plan to put it all into action. If the Democratic Party sweeps 2026, then DSA will become "foot soldiers" in constant clashes with the administration to cross a "red line" or invoke a "doomsday scenario" - meaning, President Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, probably sometime in 2027.
Then, a lot of coordinated responses kick off, including delegitimizing the federal government itself and handing that legitimacy to Democratic governors. 2028 then becomes a vote on whether to keep America governance as-is or to burn it all down to appease a "young and brown" demographic.
The mysterious group who's been coordinating 50501, Indivisible, and coordinating the NoKings protests is called "United Democracy Alliance" and their intellectual leader is Erica Chenoweth who came up with the 3.5% rule of nonviolent regime change.
Patience. I know I've hyped this more than anything else. It's genuinely the biggest discovery I've had. This is an enormous archive. This is only the beginning.
since #childrensbooks is trending, and idk why hashtags are still a thing, here's my children book

Seriously, it's a fun read and I'm not even a huge fan of Steampunk but it has an excellent flow and the idea is refreshing in this day and age.
personally, i love the trope, as a gen y
my kids tolerate it well enough, but only if it's done right (gen alpha)
it's in my steampunk novel:

this is what i think of whenever someone says diversity will bring us "better food" lol
Regular reminder that The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is set during WWII when Turkish Delight would have been impossible to acquire in England because A) it requires too much sugar to feasibly make during rationing and B) no one is importing foreign sweets during the war.
It's not candied cocaine or anything, it just happens to be something Edmund likes and can no longer get.
Which makes the point of him trading his siblings for sweets (albeit ones enchanted by a witch) more salient, because sin and evil are banal like that.

Guess how many books all Harvard undergraduates read in common?
15? 8? 3?

10. City of God — St. Augustine
11. Consolation of Philosophy — Boethius
12. Summa Theologiae — St. Thomas Aquinas
13. The Divine Comedy — Dante
14. The Canterbury Tales — Geoffrey Chaucer
15. Don Quixote — Miguel de Cervantes
16. Hamlet — William Shakespeare
17. King Lear — William Shakespeare

i've been in publishing for almost 20 years now, from trad pub to self-pub to indie. the landscape of the internet has drastically changed a lot, for the good and the bad. it is something that a lot of people take for granted, but i am very happy to do as well as I have 🥰

To anyone thinking that being an author is easy and lucrative. To those artists who think an author should pay them hundreds for a cover and attack any who chose cheaper options. This is the reality. 13 years and this is it. Not even half the wage I earn per year from my day job.

okay here's how *I* would've written a story like this:
Dark avatar and light avatar fall in love while fighting as they master the different elements
enemies to friends to lovers
tragic love story
two avatars
villains: dysfunctional family + opposing governments
tried asking two people if they knew jesus today
one was a vet who said yes with the stone-cold stare of a man who has seen too much
the other was a hindu who was more concerned about how big his temple was than if what he believed was true or not
kinda depressed about that one
