In our Thursday Series colloquium this week, the faculty @WFULawSchool were lucky enough to hear from Prof. Atinuke Adediran from @FordhamLawNYC. She talked about her empirical research on legal non-profit fundraising and the connection to diverse boards and CEOs. Outstanding!

In Chapter 8, @brandonlgarrett surveys the role of prosecutors in post-conviction phases of the criminal process. He offers the first academic account (to my knowledge) of second-look sentencing units within prosecutors' offices. @WilsonCSJ_ @ProfRGold @KayLevine12

In Chapter 11, @lbeisen and @miriamkrinsky offer an original empirically-grounded account of prosecutor metrics. They develop a theory for why such metrics are critical to sound prosecution. @fjp_org @ProfRGold @KayLevine12

In Chapter 4, Brian Johnson and Raquel Hernandez (U of MD Criminology) sum up the rich empirical literature on plea negotiations (which they sort into three "Waves"). They conclude with a call for more judicial regulation and formal limits on the allowable size of discounts.

Chapter 2 -- the work of Mona Lynch and Matt Barno -- tells us what matters and what doesn't when prosecutors select charges. Case factors, demographic factors, socio-structural factors, and local factors matter. SCOTUS doctrine, not so much. @Social_Ecology

In Chapter 3, @ProfFairfax elegantly sums up the current landscape in the field of "Testing Charges," featuring the work of grand juries -- a topic of particular scholarly depth for Dean Fairfax.

@ProfRGold and our @WFULawSchool students created such a remarkable event! For instance, check out the panel on "Community Voice" in pretrial release decisions. youtube.com/watch?v=RMMsWdHY…
Excited to see my article with @wrightrf in @WFULawReview picked up on CrimProf Blog. It’s called The Political Patterns of Bail Reform and introduces the bail reform symposium issue. Available here: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.…. Did I mention that I got to co-author with @wrightrf?
