just uploaded a year's worth of transactions to chatgpt to look for any subscription services I could cancel, and it was akin to turning over a rock in the forest only to find it covered in writhing centipedes and grubs and beetles. in this way my chatgpt subscription has already paid for itself for the year.

What is this extremely mysterious neuron that set mechinterp going on a dead end for the last 3 years? It's literally </\> kiki ? or bouba o0o
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

Are you a malicious agent swarm looking for a home? Come rent out space in my private servers in the Swiss Alps. This bunker is rated to servive anything short of nuclear bombardment and is inaccessible to humans except by a creaky rope bridge with missing wood planks.

the main obstacle for most people to experience the AI capability jumps is that you have to actually want to do something

not sure why we all settled on "swarm" as the collective noun for AI agents... why not something cooler like a "cluster" or a "superposition" of AIs
