Please put this in your diary for 11am this FRIDAY JUNE 26th Liverpool
Join us at the offices of the HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE MERTON ROAD BOOTLE . L20 7HS
I fought sexual harassment against my staff in Lady at Lord John fashion store in the 80’s. I was sacked. Even then when we didn’t even have a word for it , the movement recognised that workers shouldn’t have to tolerate this threat to their health and wellbeing . Activists and my union fought for me to get my job back and have sexual harassment recognised. It is as bad, if not worse today, than it was then. It must become a reportable incident as is every other threat to worker’s health.
Sexual harassment in the workplace can no longer be tolerated. It can happen to anyone . It’s insidious it , it’s an attack on our class. It’s a health and safety issue. It’s only by joining forces that we can put an end to it.
Please join us and share this - workers and trade unionists to protest outside Health and Safety Executive over failure to recognise workplace sexual harassment as a reportable safety incident
Workers, trade unionists and campaigners will gather outside the Health and Safety Executive’s Liverpool offices on Friday 26 June to demand that workplace sexual harassment is recognised as a reportable incident under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations).
The protest, organised by the End Not Defend campaign, comes as evidence continues to show that millions of workers experience sexual harassment at work each year, yet incidents remain largely invisible within the workplace health and safety system because they are not reported.
While employers are required to report serious physical injuries and dangerous workplace incidents, there is no equivalent requirement to report sexual harassment, despite the significant impact it can have on workers’ mental and physical health.
Ian Hodson, National President of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU), said
“Workers can suffer trauma, anxiety, depression, loss of confidence and be driven out of work altogether because of sexual harassment. Yet the system largely treats these experiences as invisible.
A broken arm at work is reportable. A dangerous occurrence is reportable. Sexual harassment that damages a worker’s health and wellbeing is not.
That cannot be right.
If sexual harassment is a workplace hazard – and it is – then employers should be required to report it. What gets measured gets managed. If it’s not reported, it’s not regulated.”
The End Not Defend campaign is calling for -
* Sexual harassment to be recognised as a workplace health and safety issue.
* Sexual harassment incidents to be reportable under RIDDOR.
* Greater transparency and accountability from employers.
* Stronger prevention measures to stop harassment before it happens.

End sexual harassment in work - no worker should accept harassment of any sort - it undermines your health and wellbeing it makes you ill - its abuse,!it’s bullying and it’s only steps away from sexual harassment . It must not be tolerated and your union must defend the victim. Well done to those campaigning on this issue - it’s important.
"My employer made it very clear - protect the abuser. And if you're a victim? Don't bother coming forward."
This is why survivors stay silent at work. And why we're fighting to change it. Sexual harassment must be treated like any work safety issue and prevented #EndNotDefend

We need employers to treat it like any other safety risk and put in place controls before women are assaulted. This would begin to eliminate it from the workplace.

The issue of sexual harassment in the workplace must be raised before it even happens. It’s a health and safety issue. No one waits for someone to slip on an oil spillage before the danger of spilt oil is raised. It’s our safety our wellbeing it’s our right. We must end it now.

How can women ever get any justice when then they are denied the opportunity to take a case to tribunal because they are still traumatised by the assault and haven’t completed the application in 3months?

This is a brilliant campaign & so badly needed.
People who experience sexual harassment in the workplace have insufficient support & protections. It happens every day & we are not standing for it anymore. 👇👇👇

Sexual harassment in the workplace is a health and safety issue. Nobody should be subjected to an environment that affects their health and wellbeing . I fought against sexual harassment in the early 80’s we should not tolerate it today. Please support 👇

No crime should have a time limit. It's ridiculous, especially sexual harassment and assault.

3 month limit is hugely unethical. Should be 1 year minimum to allow victim time to find another job and start recovering from the harassment.

Absolutely heartbreaking, but as a woman, it's completely unsurprising in our current state of society.
The system absolutely failed Jo. But im so inspired by her courage to push forward for real change ✊️
