From hospitality to healthcare, workers shouldn’t have to worry about getting home safely after a shift. Unite is callling for employers and local governments across the UK to take action. We're calling for: 🚕 Safe, free transport home – make free transport home a licensing condition for hospitality venues operating late at night. 🤝 Extend employers’ duty of care – require employers to assess the risks of workers’ journeys and introduce safe transport home policies, including paying for taxis where possible for staff finishing after 11pm. 🚌 Better public transport – invest in safe, reliable and more frequent buses, including night and off-peak services, with municipal ownership to help rebuild our bus networks. 🚨 Zero tolerance for sexual harassment – introduce mandatory training for transport workers, strengthen laws and enforcement, and ensure CCTV is working. 🚖 Stronger taxi safety standards – introduce national minimum standards and end cross-border hiring to improve passenger safety, particularly for women.
