Finally, it's being widely talked about! Folic acid should be nowhere near staple foods. Arguably it shouldn't even be in supplements. A small proportion of the population might need folate supplements. So: let's find out who those people are, and give them folate supplements, and keep unnecessary and potentially harmful medicines out of everyone's food. There's enough crap in processed food already without adding medicine as well.

RT @A1an_M: A few weeks back I wrote the CEOs of the big supermarkets about the addition of synthetic folic acid to all non-wholemeal flour…

In the food queue behind someone asking about folic acid content in bread - who wants to avoid it! So your campaign is working @ClareCraigPath, even if I was wanting her to hurry up 😆😵‍💫

When they made this I doubt any of them had a clue there was FOLIC ACID in everything they made. It wasn't even on the labels! Gov advises over 50s and anyone with a colorectal polyp to limit consumption to 200 micrograms a day. That is 100 grams of flour. Sign the petition:

I'm a member of public who saw this post a few days ago. I don't know this person who posted the petition. But as I'm someone who likes to find out the truth and I'm concerned about my own health. I looked into it a bit on X and by googling, 'this and that' . Then I signed.

Drugs should not be in food. 💊💊💊💊💊 At least with meat you can still choose to avoid it. With bread you cannot. 🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞🍞 From 13 December ALL non-wholemeal flour in the UK, even organic flour, must contain synthetic folic acid, a licensed drug. Folic acid is a drug and it is already present in a huge proportion of the food supply, from ready meals and oven chips to condiments. Shopping at a farm shop will not help with this problem. The government claims adding this drug will reduce the number of affected pregnancies by around 200 a year. Even if that were possible, it cannot outweigh the risk entailed in exposing about 69 million people who cannot possibly benefit. The NHS already warns about the risks. Millions with vitamin B12 deficiency risk permanent damage to the nervous system because folic acid exposure can lead to late diagnosis. Millions of caancer patients are advised to limit intake because it can fuel cancer growth. People with heart stents, an allergy or with genetic variants affecting folate handling are also at greater risk. For pregnant women they risk pregnancy losses, multiple births and gestational diabetes as well as effects on the unborn including atopic dermatitis, otitis media and asthma and wheezy bronchitis. This is population-wide medication without informed consent or consumer choice. This petition is approaching 60,000 signatures. Help it pass 100,000 and provoke a debate. Sign at link in next tweet:

For anyone wanting folic acid free hoisin sauce, look out for Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce readily available from supermarkets. Not a whiff of poisoned wheat flour anywhere near it. I have double checked this with them uk.lkk.com/products/hoisin-s…

The entire point of @bt_uk and the other landline providers axing PSTN, is to murder as many as possible who rely on that and have no fucking mobile phone garbage. It's all the #Agenda2030 killing agenda.

Smart meters are for demand management through variable pricing. Avoid like the plague. And they *cannot* force you to have one.

Don't do it! They're going to ration the electricity soon, they need it all for the data centres. The 'smart' meters make it easier to switch you on and off as they please. 👍

soilassociation.org/news-eve… The soil association are not on X they are trying to keep folic acid out of organic flour but the government is mandating that it is added. Worth a look, we would have had a choice if the government left organic alone!!

Folic Acid which is now in white flour and consequently a lot of our food doubles the risk of Prostate cancer. It is also dangerous for those with heart stents such as yourself .

Great news, welcome back. For Together's next campaign, any chance we could get on the case of "mandatory folic acid in flour"? xitter.cf/A1an_M/status/20867350…
Hey @Togetherdec, any chance you could apply your campaigning muscle to the campaign to stop the mandatory addition of folic acid to white flour and therefore to all sorts of food?

FFS folic acid is in ready made pastry now too. Going to have to make that from scratch as well 🙄 Hey @AngelaRayner I hear you're going to be the next Health Secretary. Getting folic acid out of flour would be a great start to your new job. Show you care about the health of cancer patients, people with kidney and liver disease, people with undiagnosed B12 deficiency, people with stents, men, and everyone else who doesn't want medicines in everyday food. That's millions and millions of people! Focus supplements on the people who actually need them. Show you're not just a puppet doing whatever Big Pharma and Big Food tells you. There's a petition running, I'll post the link in the comments. Great to have your support!

"The body loses about 50 micrograms a day." "Given that meat, eggs and dairy all contain folate that is fully available it would be hard to find any diet that did not contain sufficient folate." The 1989 panel doubled "the requirement from 100 micrograms of absorbed folate to 200 micrograms" The 1998 panel "doubled it to 400 micrograms." "The consequence is that the daily dosing is four times higher than what the body requires and is on top of the 100 micrograms which any diet already contains." "it is the body’s entire daily requirement delivered four times over, on top of the folate already coming from ordinary food."

I asked the same question to @TheBHF and also @CRUK_policy and @CR_UK but received no answer.
Why isn’t @ProstateUK speaking out against folic acid in all flour? Are they not a serious charity or just existing to collect our cash?
