Dustin Hoffman slapped Meryl Streep without warning just before filming this scene for Kramer vs. Kramer.
You can still see the mark on her cheek.
He claimed he was just staying in character.
She said he had crossed the line.
They never worked together again.

The legendary actor inaugurates the Criterion Closet in our new office, where she talks about her love of documentaries, including 16 DAYS OF GLORY and SALESMAN; shares why watching MY DINNER WITH ANDRÉ made her want to live the life of an actor; and selects films by master directors like Ken Loach and Robert Altman.

one of my favorite things about our brilliant costume designer Kirsty Cameron is that she was always thinking deeply about how each character acquired their clothes, which led to pieces of storytelling like this

Most doctors miss a hidden cause of unexplained fatigue, cramps & poor sleep: magnesium deficiency.
Nearly half of Americans (48%) don’t get enough from food.
Usual labs (TSH, iron, B12, D) come back “normal” and they tell you it’s stress or age.
Serum Mg only reflects <1% of body stores (most is in bone & muscle), so a normal result can hide deep depletion.
Mg powers 300+ enzyme reactions, including ATP energy and muscle relaxation.
It’s the oil in your engine—without enough, everything seizes even with a full tank of fuel.
Stress, caffeine, and sweat drain it faster, creating a vicious cycle.
3-step reset:
1. Food first (pumpkin seeds, spinach, almonds, dark chocolate)
2. Support absorption (vitamin D + healthy gut)
3. Glycinate/citrate 200–400 mg elemental if needed—ask your doctor
If you only do one thing this week: add a handful of pumpkin seeds or 2 squares of 85% dark chocolate daily.
What’s the one symptom that improved most when you raised your magnesium?

Would male actors ever be called Illicit Lover & Husband?
Replying to @DEADLINE
I love these actors and will see any thriller with the two of them. But... would male actors ever be called Illicit Lover & Husband?

One mango has about 46 g of sugar. Eating one a day still improved blood sugar in people with prediabetes.
In a 2025 randomized trial, adults ate ~300 g of fresh mango daily for 24 weeks.
Compared with an isocaloric granola-bar group:
→ Fasting glucose was lower
→ Insulin sensitivity improved
→ HbA1c stayed stable while it rose in controls
→ No adverse change in body weight was seen
And this isn't the only signal.
Randomized crossover studies have found better post-meal glucose responses after fresh mango compared with refined snacks like cookies or white bread.
The lesson isn't that mango “lowers blood sugar.”
It's that sugar in whole fruit is not metabolically equivalent to added sugar in processed food.
Your move: Choose whole fruit over a refined sweet snack today.
What fruit do you think gets unfairly blamed for its sugar?

Halloween has its roots in Samhain, one of the four ancient Celtic fire festivals.
According to folklore, the veil that separates this world and the Otherworld draws thin at this liminal time of the year, and it was believed that supernatural creatures would cross over into the world of humans.
Traditionally people would wear costumes and light bonfires to keep otherworldly beings at bay on this night of magic and mystery.
