You claim it's democratizing art, when in reality it's the opposite. Craft and knowledge is being centralized by conglomerates. They're selling you the sum of everyone else's craft and knowledge. If a new creative never takes the time to learn, they'll become dependent on corpos.

All these people saying "but think of the indies!" while defending one of the most predatory, unregulated pieces of tech entirely owned by megacorps, which is based on theft and on the premise of replacing workers 🙃

I don't think we'll agree on the value of the process or artistry, but here's a business reason why defaulting to genAi can backfire: it cheapens your product. Scams and cashhrabs all use genAi nowadays bc it's easy and quick, and most people will recognize that look and feel.

Even when you look at it from a production perspective, getting to the end result as fast as possible isn't necessarily a good thing. Lots of things get polished, changed, or removed during the slow/monotonous periods of development. First ideas/iterations are rarely the best!

We'll continue not using gen-ai, cause we love the process and feel like the negatives outweigh the positives. I get why devs use this tech, but to us it feels wrong (theft, centralization of skill in the hands of corpos, environment, etc), and we're productive enough without it.

(in the scenario of no regulations) anyone, skilled or not, can make a viable product, though most ai assisted games will feel generic. Human craft will become kinda like "bio" food products. Gotta find ways to "watermark" games due to cloning (and limit final assets in demos).
