Ban on hedgecutting/upland burning starts tomorrow till Aug 31 to protect breeding birds. Disappointing & alarming to see that 30% of sanctions issued as a result of CAP conditionality inspections in 2023 were for breaches of GAEC 8/landscape features⬇️

Sad to hear that Dickie Rock has passed away this evening. Dickie was good enough to perform at our 150th anniversary in 2012. #RIP #DickieRock

We are all devastated with the news of Jon Passing and our thoughts are with Margy Aaron and Leah. I was lucky to spend so many years touring with Jon and learning from him. Creating some great shows and videos. Hilarious hours in the rehersal room and playing great tunes. But sitting in the kitchen with Margy and Caroline just having the craic in Lough Gur will never be forgotten. Thanks Jon.

When Government Politicians come knocking at your door in the coming weeks, be sure to ask them why they supported one of the largest biodiversity wipeouts on these bogs since the initial peat extraction days, with all in this video eradicated.
Already sick and tired of hearing Ministers talk about all they've done while in Government.
If they were referring to having done absolutely nothing to protect biodiversity on the boglands then we'd completely agree with them.
Also, be sure to ask those in opposition who promise change, why they haven't held the Government to account for losses such as this and what they will do to reverse the desecration?
People are tired of words. It's action that everyone wants to see.
If any politician is reading this, we'd truly welcome your comment below as to what you or your party will do, without failure, if you are part of the next Government.
The floor is yours.

For those of you who take omega-3 supplements, I'd urge you to ditch those made from fish oil. There are plenty of alternatives, and you won't be supporting one of the most destructive industries on earth.

Is there any reason @NPWSIreland & @KildareCoCo why you can't start fencing off areas in Curragh to keep the sheep out. I don't think they need all that grass. @whittledaway @Irishwildlife

Dad, on what would be your 73rd birthday, I remember you for all the hope and joy you brought to the world. There's not a week that goes by without someone sharing with me how you helped them through a dark time or a rough patch. I'm so grateful to be your son. Love you forever.

Tonight we arrived at the soup run a little before six and everything went smoothly. We saw a guy and his film crew near Penneys and he approached to find out how long we were going to be. He informed us that he has a permit to use the road to park their film trucks because they had a few trucks coming in. We informed him that we lead a soup run with the Musim Sisters of Eire and that there were a few cars coming in after us including a van full of food. He didn’t seem happy and we let him know that we feed around 350 every Friday night and that we would try and be done by 8pm. He was then fine with our recommendation. Even though we have been running the soup run for 8 years, we can be asked to leave at anytime which can prove to be difficult especially being an HSE registered soup run and a registered charity.
Once we arrived, we immediately put up the tables and the team was briefed on what to do. The soup run went really well, we gave out 400 meals tonight and experienced no issues. A detective from Fitzgibbons Street came up to ask to keep an eye out for a young French guy who came over with a group of tourists and is now missing. He’s tall, about 6ft, has sallow looking skin and brown hair. He doesn’t speak English and was last seen walking by the Rotunda wearing a blue pair of jeans with a dark jacket, a black pack and a blue piece of carry on luggage. We let the detective know that we’d keep an eye out for him. If you have any information, please contact the Store Street Police Station.
With all that, we finished on time. At the end, three men who were sleeping in tents approach us and let us know that they were hungry and we handed out meals to them.
A big shoutout to an American student and her brother who are visiting Ireland for the next 10 days who volunteered for us this week.
