I have spent over 25 years of my professional career to research and demonstrate how to reverse the decline of #farmlandbirds. We know how to do it, but are lacking suitable policies to pay for it. theguardian.com/environment/…
They'll be all gone in Ireland too & people will ask what happened & I will say, we tried, we pushed, you argued against us, you were swayed by big business & tech bros, you wouldnt listen. 63% of 🇮🇪's wild bird populations are in trouble. Please listen.

A disaster coming for birds if this is passed. The proposed changes would make it easier to destroy nests and deliberately kill wild birds in the planning process. @ThomasByrneTD @JamesBrowneTD

These are heartbreaking numbers
Replying to @curlewcalls
The figures are stark. Ireland has lost more than 98% of its breeding Curlews and has only about 105 pairs left. Hungary may have just 20 pairs. France has 830–1,000, Flanders perhaps 400 and Germany fewer than 4,000.
Habitat restoration funded under @LIFEProgramme, a predator exclusion fencex2, grazing & support from local farmers & we have 10% of the national Lapwing population at our reserve in Co. Mayo. Restoration works. This can be replicated around the country.
