If you have a reliable spatial data, and good soil sampling data, why would you blanket rate?
Data subset from >5000ha farm in the Eastern Wheatbelt, where cost of lime is approaching $70/t on farm.
P.S. comparatively, variable rate gypsum is the easy one

An Electromagnetic (EM) sensor is a great tool for soil mapping, but gamma radiometrics (GR) is almost more useful.
Spot differences in these deep cores, not distinguished by EM map (red areas).
EM and GR are a pretty comprehensive team.

Using spatial data to change the way we think about lime & gypsum inputs this summer.
Next step is segmented comprehensive soil sampling within each management zone to determine appropriate rates 👍

Yield limiting Sandy paddock on EP ripped to 55cm, didn’t reach the clay. Got the speed map from @JohnDeere Ops Centre
+ TSM Soil Survey
+ RGBI soil colour from @PCTagcloud Satamap
Think we’ve found our zone. Next step, pull out some cores, zone, then rip deeper or clay spread

🌱 6000ha Rx seed maps ⬆️ rate on sandy rises. In vetch paddocks, lupins applied on the sands
🌱 6000ha Rx Fert maps, capitalising on more productive soil types
Maps sent via WDT to 9RX and @Agworld to convert to actuals!
