ALT We want to honour the life of the extraordinary & exquisite William Torkington. Being super smart doesn’t draw a lot of water, in our humble opinion, unless it is equalled by kindness & moral principle & humility, by a sense of care for others - and William had all of that - and so much more - on a scale unmatched. His intellect, his empathy, his integrity, generosity of spirit, altruism, warmth, his talents, his honour: all, immeasurable. A brilliant & incisive thinker, infinitely curious, infinitely compassionate, passionate, creative, funny af omg, mellifluous in music, in voice & in heart. And oh that heart! As beautiful as something can be, as large as they come. Larger. Spending time in William’s company was a delight & an honour. We feel so grateful for having had the blessing of that - it always left us buoyed & better & brighter - the things he could teach you! Linguistic theory! Music! Maths! Politics! Art! Food! Love! So much we learned from him. He brimmed w/ knowledge

ALT & interest in the world & in others, and he shared what he knew in a humble, joyous, patient way that invited scintillating kōrero, and deeper thinking, and that always, always excited & ignited something within us. We are grateful beyond words to his incredible parents for bringing into the world this golden, glorious boy, this rare & special one. A lamplighter, and a lamp - he lit people up, lit something in others. Twas impossible to have not been drawn to him. So fucking radiant. His impact was & will remain so vivid & so vast & we know the profoundness of what he sparked in people will continue to reveal itself in countless ways, in places here and all over. We give thanks for you William. We thank you for your friendship. We thank you for being a beloved member of our Webstock fam. We cherish the times we had with you, those moments & memories will always be so precious. We wish we could have more. We wish we could do it all over again.
