I can imagine a mind that is unhappy about having had children but it would have to be pretty different from mine "Gift from God" feels appropriate, the ways I was changed didn't seem realistically plausible until they happened

I'm not saying life with kids is continuous bliss (hahahaha), but absolutely there is a floor for my personal despair that didn't exist before. I can be pretty unhappy, sometimes for a long time, but it basically bottoms out at a way less dysfunctional place than it did before

You're not supposed to say this but having kids completed me I was taught -- explicitly -- that if you feel incomplete or chronically unhappy without a partner or children they will not complete you and you will ruin your life pursuing them before healing That was just not true
This makes me so sad In the video a girl is discussing how her mom tells her she regrets having her… and the comments are all full of similar stories

I think it's honestly really hard to square the fact that a lot of marriages are really good some of the time and painfully, unavoidably overwhelmed by the human foibles of one or both people some of the time. I'm here for the white pill but also families-making-it-work stuff

The last time we did this, yes, and they told us to wait to get our renewal paperwork in the mail

Whatever the keto people say it's way easier to get chonky on fat vs. sugar, you're going to feel sick after 300-1,000 calories of fat-free candy but you can butter up a single meal to the stratosphere

Apparently this guest has been married three times and has no biological kids, but is the third mother to two adopted children who have never had a legal father Probablistically there are worse people to advise married female listeners but I sure don't know who they would be

Because generally in this context you don't want to leave and don't plan to leave, and at least where I've lived 30 days has been pretty standard notice for rent increases on renewals

I think it's natural to feel miffed that somebody made an effort to estimate exactly how much it's worth to you to not have to move your whole life and family somewhere else in a month, which is what the large corporate landlords are obviously doing But it's predictable

The only real difference is that there are a bunch of moving costs -- in cash, time and logistics -- that you have to pay in one big lump sum if you don't like the new lease. But it comes with the territory; you should expect to move often if you want to keep paying market rates

What's sad is that more colleagues, particularly in the sciences and other "passion" fields, should obviously be getting hitched We're burning out the few habitats for organic romance and easy love that still exist bc people like this play defection games in the worst places

Yeah, if she "wants to keep it casual" the whole nature of the thing is laid bare and it should end right there If you're not both falling in love there are like a dozen serious problems that instantaneously arise from this

He had enough money to manage the bond and then charter a private flight so yeah, this was all utterly foreseeable

I'm a sheet ghost for Halloween this year because the 4-year-old is operating smoothly in her lane and therefore dictates absolutely everything Halloween-oriented in this house during the brief window where she is both very cute and the only child able to talk

Anyway, you can't turn to the camera and deliver the Bad Stupid Norm that downplays your extractive behavior and demonizes their extractive behavior without expecting them to do exactly the same thing Everyone is so tired of litigating bad stupid norms this way

I think everyone immediately recognizes that both of these people were in very different advantageous positions and used them extractively It's all good and well to be playful about this if you're falling in love but if you're not it's just gross

I'm not even going off my own moral code here, but society's revealed preferences Deep down everybody kind of hates both of these people and can only enjoy any successes or failures in their civil proceedings through the lens of personal wounds

I'm being 100% sincere, you want to bang the hot subordinate 20 years your junior you can do that but you do have to start saying "I'm going to marry that girl" almost immediately and you do have to get her a two month's salary ring by 1 year in

Apparently the judge's hands were tied in that the previous guidelines required the prosecution to meet a fairly high evidentiary bar in order to even have the option of pretrial detention. The prosecution asked for $3M and the judge granted just $1M, so there's that
