After watching our book ship worldwide, my own copies finally landed. Surreal to say the least!
So excited about what @pgliljedahl and I created, and even moreso to get this into the hands of teachers!
#buildingthinkingclassrooms @BTCthinks – at White City, Saskatchewan
The gang is back together!
👀Keep your eyes peeled for new episodes of @ThinkThankPod coming soon! #buildingthinkingclassrooms
First @BTCthinks workshop of the school year is in the books!
Big thanks to @DuffieldSchool and @CopperhavenPSD in @psd_70 for hosting. Excited to see your teachers dig into the #buildingthinkingclassrooms practices! – at Spruce Grove, Alberta
Here we go!
@pgliljedahl kicking off the #BTC24 conference talking about the little things that matter in a #thinkingclassroom. – at Phoenix, AZ
Beyond excited to share some ideas and co-present with some amazing #thinkingclassroom friends @Pierre_Tranche, @mathgeek76, and @Jerroldwiebe at #BTC24.
It took four attempts, but @maegangiroux and I finally made it to Phoenix for #BTC24.
Can't wait to share and learn alongside everyone here! – at Phoenix, AZ
Lastly, I am thankful for the chance to share some of my work around the #thinkingclassroom and model a BTC lesson launch-to-close for teachers from around the province. A big thanks to @BurdessAlicia for the task inspiration and @vendi55 for helping me out. 6/7
@howie_hua also reminded us that "it's not enough to love the math we teach, we also need to love the students too".
A timely reminder that we need to consider what experiences we want our students to have in addition to whatever content they're learning. 5/7
Then, @howie_hua got the room of 200+ math teachers fired up like I've never seen. Such a fantastic reminder of the joys of math and how we need to work with our students so they can see themselves in math. 4/7
And, @marian_small also shared how critical it is for us to move beyond just giving and assessing skills questions and move towards the bigger ideas and concepts behind the mathematics.
This is where true understanding will shine through. 3/7
We kicked things off with the one and only @marian_small. She reminded us that a big part of our work as math teachers is to "help all students notice what only a few students are noticing". 2/7
