Part 3 - Let's talk about Nigeria's economic indicators and reality.
Nigeria's stock exchange is at an all-time high.
The NGX has returned 60.76% year-to-date. JPMorgan just restored Nigeria's weight in their global bond index after 11 years. The Dangote Refinery IPO is one of the largest capital market events in Nigerian history.
And yet a bag of rice costs more than it did last year.
When the financial layer of an economy expands faster than the productive layer, the two begin to decouple. The stock market tells one story. The market where ordinary people buy food tells another. The people who participate in the economy through capital markets experience a different Nigeria from the one most Nigerians actually live inside.
This is what over-financialization looks like in practice. And Nigeria is living it in real time, even as the macro indicators flash green.
The solution is not to abandon financial markets. It is to build financial instruments that are structurally tethered to the productive economy that most Nigerians actually live inside.
And that's the gap we're filling with @BitsaveProtocol's BizMarket.

Most people in the crypto industry won't say this out loud, so we will.
A lot of crypto is the purest expression of financialization that has ever existed.
A memecoin has no underlying asset. A governance token's value is pure belief. The yield in most DeFi protocols comes from token emissions, financial instruments layered on top of other financial instruments until the underlying reality is completely invisible.
This is structurally the same problem Radhika Desai describes when she talks about neoliberal financialization. Capital expanding beyond its productive anchor.
@_karlagod did this video to show how Real World Assets are structurally different.
An RWA instrument can only pay yield if the underlying asset actually produces revenue. The financial layer is bounded by the productive layer beneath it. It cannot bubble beyond what the business, or the government, actually earns.
This is the argument we explore in this video and it's also the design principle behind what we're building with BizMarket.

Even though my media office has issued a responsible clarification on the situation, I still find it necessary to add my voice to address the distortion of my message by political opponents.
I deeply appreciate Nigerians in the diaspora who work tirelessly and make enormous sacrifices to support their families back home. Their remittances pay for school fees, hospital bills, rent, and feeding expenses. Their patriotism and sacrifices deserve our profound respect.
I never asked them to abandon their loved ones. My concern is that Nigeria should not remain a country where millions depend on relatives abroad for basic survival.
Our goal must be to build a nation that provides jobs, affordable healthcare, quality education, and economic opportunities for its citizens.
Political opponents may twist my message, but the truth remains clear: I am not asking Nigerians abroad to abandon their families. I am advocating for a Nigeria that will no longer abandon its own people.

I’ve decided I’m no longer going to stay quiet.
For a long time I’ve mostly talked about crypto, and web3.
Those things still matter to me. But I’m done pretending that the bigger picture isn’t more urgent.
There is too much poverty.
Too much debt.
Too much sickness.
Too much Deaths..
And yet people are still out here gaslighting others into supporting this present administration like everything is fine.
It’s not fine.
It doesn’t make sense, and it’s not right.
From now on, I’m going to talk about politics and governance too not because I suddenly became a politician, but because these things directly affect how we live, how we eat, how we survive, and what kind of future we’re leaving for the next generation.
I’m not interested in propaganda.
I’m interested in truth and accountability.
If that makes some people uncomfortable, so be it.
