Passenger Train to cross the Nile again
Greetings good people.
We have been cooking on all fronts to extend our services wide and far.
Preparations for the train to Jinja are in the final phase. We have heard the calls, and as listening sector players, it is incumbent upon us to respond to the calls.
This trip will start as a weekend service. We shall depart Kampala on Fridays and return on Sundays. We are not talking years to come. This is happening this year 2026.
After the acquisition of more rolling stock (a process that is ongoing), the trips to and from Jinja will increase. The target is to have a daily scheduled train crossing the Nile.
Next up,
1. Preperations for AfCON
2. Clearance of ALL ENCROACHMENT on URC land. We heard the calls, it is time to clear the reserve completly.

Good Morning, Comrades.
Yesterday, onboard the train were holiday makers of @SeromaHigh.
During such times, the roads are congested because many schools are breaking off for holidays. Having the service helps to remove a sizable number of cars off the roads.
How it works: Students board the train from the Mukono ICD and are transported a long the route, with stops at the different halts. For other routes to be added, the boarding points will be communicated.
At each stop, the parents are waiting to pick their children.
With us, you don’t have to set aside an entire day just to pick your child from school.
The end goal is to deploy the service whenever students are heading out for holidays and during school opening days, along all the routes we have, and those to be added.

I was on a train in Tokyo. We stopped between stations. Announcement in Japanese, then in English: "We apologize for the delay. We will resume shortly."
The delay was maybe 3 minutes. Not a big deal.
When the train started moving again, another announcement: "We sincerely apologize for the delay. We were stopped for 3 minutes and 20 seconds. This is unacceptable. Thank you for your patience."
Three minutes and twenty seconds. They measured it exactly. And called it unacceptable.
When I got off at my stop, there were station staff on the platform bowing and handing out delay certificates.
I took one out of curiosity. It was an official document stating that the train had been delayed by 3 minutes and 20 seconds, signed and stamped.
The staff member said in English "for your employer. So they know the delay was not your fault."
I said I'm a tourist, I don't need it. He looked confused. "But the delay affected you. You deserve an apology."
Three minutes. They were treating a three-minute delay like a major incident.
Later I mentioned this to a Japanese friend. They said "oh yes, delay certificates are normal. Trains are supposed to be exactly on time. If they are late, they must apologize."
I said three minutes isn't late, it's nothing. My friend said "in Japan, three minutes is late. On time means on time. Not approximately on time."
They said the train company probably investigated why there was a 3-minute delay. "They will find the cause and fix it so it doesn't happen again."
I kept the certificate. It's framed in my apartment now. A reminder that somewhere in the world, people care about three minutes.

A lot of you are asking what a weGo Smart Card is..
A weGo Smart Card is contactless payment card for public transport in Uganda, designed to enable cashless, tap and go fare payments on buses and trains.
You load money onto the card using mobile money or FlexiPay, then use it when boarding public transport. Instead of paying cash, you tap the card on a machine and the fare is deducted instantly.
There is no need for cash or searching for change. The system uses contactless technology similar to what is used in modern transport systems in cities like London.
It makes travel easier because boarding becomes faster and payments are automatic. It also helps you track and control how you spend on transport, while reducing risks linked to handling cash.
In simple terms, you load the card and use it every time you travel by just tapping and going.
