I have to admit I had a bunch of misconceptions about Kazakhstan. When @ns announced its move to Astana, my first reaction was: why move a community of mostly digital nomads to what I imagined was a conservative and cold country in Central Asia? Turns out I had some homework to do, so I had to go and see for myself! Here is why it makes sense: Kazakhs have a nomadic heritage that reaches into recent family history - think 2–3 generations of settlers after centuries of nomadic tribes. The name “Kazakh” itself apparently has associations with an independent, wandering life (thank you, @vrneth). When you think about mobile people building strong communities on the go, the connection to network states starts to feel less surprising. Then there’s Astana: a city transformed within a generation after becoming the capital in 1997. The infrastructure is already in place - I kid you not, but it reminded me of visiting Dubai for the first time 15 years ago, minus the heat, plus walkability. The local government wants more international talent and is actively helping NS bring it here. Things seem to move quickly when there’s a will to make them happen. Also, the international presence around the Expo area (where NS is located) is noticeable. I experienced firsthand how eager locals are to talk to strangers, having multiple random, pleasant interactions on the street. @sericssonn a local community lead who very kindly welcomed me to Astana, explained a lot of the context and heritage (I’m very grateful for everything!). He told me that seeking out travelers or those with experience from abroad and learning from them is deeply rooted in Kazakh culture — how else would they know what was happening in the lands they were about to move their entire tribe into? Today, that sounds like a useful instinct for attracting global builders and a startup society such as @ns. My visit was short, so consider this a first impression. But it was so strong that I’ll surely be back to learn more!

Wrapped zkAPI + Tor + extra cover traffic + local LLM prompt rewriting in an open-AI compatible daemon, and made a "paranoid mode" wrapper for my agent harness (pi): Each conversation gets assigned a separate Tor circuit, your requests are masked with random cover traffic, zkAPI ensures you don't leak your identity through payments, and all prompts are locally rewritten (bring-your-own-local-model; I'm using qwen3.8-flash-next) github.com/vbuterin/zkapi/tr… My agent harness is wrapped with a bwrap sandbox (also experimenting with MicroVM) and wrapped again with torsocks, so everything it does goes through Tor. Here's what me asking it to do a simple research task looks like. It's getting quite usable! Though you definitely still pay quite a bit in increased latency, especially when starting a new conversation. Also, Tor is far from optimal here for privacy; the cover traffic mechanism is okay against passive adversaries but much weaker if the LLM provider is colluding with the guard and actively manipulating timing. This kind of task really requires a more specialized mixnet, probably take the tradeoff of a higher bandwidth multiplier and built-in constant cover traffic. Also also, much cheaper zkAPI deposit and withdraw gas costs are coming to mainnet soon.

If you’re an engineer (or systems optimizer) and have never tried understanding & optimizing your biological health, you are stuck in Plato’s cave. AKA you don’t fully understand life. We’re still just meat sacks that think we can think

Wow, Flying Rocket Roadster. We now live in a world where anyone can create this video as AI-generated animation in seconds, but also the same world where thousands of engineers can also make it real in ~years.

It's so tempting to see things in black and white. Your mind, people around you, the algorithm will encourage you to do so. Can you pause for a moment and maintain your cognitive sovereignty instead?

ENSv2 is approaching mainnet, and you might be wondering what that means for the .eth name you already own. Will it still work? Do you need to upgrade straight away? Here’s what to know before launch.

Different perspectives. Different backgrounds. One community. We asked the Ethereum community what makes Devcon special, and why Mumbai is the place to be this November. 🇮🇳 Here's what they had to say.
