Today, #Auschwitz is still the place where the biggest mass murder in history took place. And now that its last survivors and perpetrators are disappearing, the spreading of its legacy has become more important than ever. #NotlongagoNotfaraway

It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS, indeterminate dendritic cell histiocytosis or other (non-LCH) histiocytic sarcomas cases. I'm trying to understand non-surgical chemo and targeted therapy options, new pathology markers to better diagnose subtypes/treatments, and any data on progression in pediatric patients. Please feel free to share – I’m trying to cast a wide net due to the rarity of this condition and how little is known. People can contact me directly at my first name (as written in my profile) at octant.bio.

A little bit late to the party, but the "SAS Rogue Heroes" is great. Still on S1.

Silver chloride and ammonia have been produced since antiquity, and the camera obscura is similarly ancient. The only real tech barrier to photography was a lens to allow enough light in to form an image - and Europe has been able to make them for about 800 years. Medieval science just overlooked the idea. If the right knowledge had been found out, we could now have photographs of Tudor soldiers displaying the body of Richard III, Columbus and his crew ready to depart, and London before the great fire. Mechanically powered moving pictures may well have followed, and you might be able to see silent film of the US founding fathers. That the available technologies were not combined for centuries is to me a catastrophic loss of information.

I’ve been a journalist all my working life and I love my fellow journalists. But I have to ask, what the hell is going in with our TV reporters on the issue of Israel? Because someone is going insane and I don’t believe it’s me. If you look at the British television reports on the IDF attack on the Kamal Adwan Hospital, basic journalism is totally missing. The question of WHY did something happen is a tenet - a central pillar of journalism. Why would Israel, knowing the critical eyes of the world is on them, attack hospitals if they weren’t fighting terrorists? If you look at this report you will see 15 seconds is given to explore this why. ‘Israel says it was being used as a headquarters for Hamas’ before sniffily adding, ‘but has not provided any evidence to support this’. In the meantime the BBC report provided no evidence of other things that were being said and doesn’t explain where or what the repeated footage we are being shown is meant to be. The BBC report is more interested in war porn than asking key questions So I ask the @BBCNews (and @SkyNews) journalists: Why haven’t you mentioned that the acting hospital director Hassan Abu Safiya is a Hamas Colonel, whose rank was confirmed by Hamas in 2018? Why don’t you mention that this is a Hamas military hospital, as described by Palestinian media? Why the eyebrow raising over claims it was used by Hamas even though doctors who have worked there recently have testified seeing Hamas leaders hiding there? In short, why is the BBC, which was once a highly respected news agency and the voice of the free world, allowing itself to be taken as a fool by a terrorist organisation? youtu.be/6tWpTpQUIpw?si=LGqS…

Systems ideas that sound good but almost never work: - DSLs - Live migrating process state - Anomaly detection - Control loops responding to system load - Multi-master writes - p2p cache sharing - Hybrid parallelism - Being clever vs over-provisioning .. What else?

Veronika Borisova, a Ukrainian Citizen, Captained the all-female flight in 2021. On August 15 when Taliban took over Kabul she managed to pilot the last flight out of Afghanistan on a 737 without Air Traffic Control in absolute chaotic conditions, saving hundred of lives. She managed to land in Tbilisi, Georgia but the plane was swiftly turned away by military to continue their journey. She decided to fly to Kyiv, Ukraine were they landed safely.

I spent 20+ years building and selling companies. But I've never shared this story publicly. How an email startup led to a Microsoft acquisition. Here's what really happened behind the scenes:

This was the 5th time in a week that Iran-backed Houthi terrorists launched a ballistic missile at Israel. A BALLISTIC MISSILE intended to cause a mass casualty event. 0 condemnations from the UN 0 condemnations from Amnesty 0 condemnations from the ICC “Human rights” groups indeed.

Poor football from Man Utd. Amorim has a very difficult challenge there. I don't think he will stay long term.
