There have been tons of posts about @framer templates lately, mainly around the review process.
I don't consider myself a top creator by any means, but I think I have enough skin in the game to give valuable advice to a lot of people, especially those starting out.
Follow these to have a higher chance of succeeding in this business:
1. Put quality first.
High quality is the most important thing you need to focus on. Without this, you won't get anywhere.
2. Change your thinking.
Your ultimate goal is not to get accepted on the marketplace. Your ultimate goal is to make the best template you can so that it generates revenue.
Don't ask yourself "How can I get accepted on the marketplace?". Instead, ask "Is my template good enough, useful to a lot of people and worth buying over hundreds of others?"
3. Follow the top creators and learn from them.
There are so many opportunities to learn from the best in this space. Lots of great templates are free, there are giveaways for premium templates from top creators, lots of them share advice etc.
People like @bynneh, @stfnco, @hxmzaehsan, @AntonDrukarov, @gola99, @JosephAlexWeb, @AndreaMontini, @tamasbodo, @visuvium, @RalconStudio among others - so many people to learn from.
Aspire to be one of them.
4. Stop comparing your templates to those already on the marketplace.
Lots of times I read "I got rejected but my template is better than some already on the marketplace".
Yes, that's true. It will happen. As Framer grows, there are more templates on the marketplace and the quality bar to get accepted raises.
Do I think the team should go through the templates already on the marketplace and apply the same requirements to them?
Absolutely. And I know they will. I know they're focusing on the submissions at hand but there are plans to sieve through the existing templates.
First player advantage is a real thing, no reason to fight it.
5. Experiment
The same SaaS template with the same sections and different colors won't get you anywhere at this point.
Make something original, eye-catching, clever. Give people the reason to choose your stuff over 100s of others.
6. Understand that Framer doesn't owe you anything.
We get to keep 100% of the sales $ and we get bunch of partner rewards on top of it. It's a privilege.
Therefore, the team can accept and reject any templates they want. Hell, even if they start only accepting pink stuff, you can't do anything about it.
They're very fair, offer plenty of feedback, the requirements are clear. We have it good here, guys.
TLDR for the lazy 😉:
Make something so good, that the question is not whether you get accepted on the marketplace, but when.
A chance to get this insane template! 🔥
