Anwar, a child from Gaza, wrote this letter to his amputated leg: "A letter to my dear leg, Today, with you in front of me, I wanted to tell you: I was sad, and I felt weak and ashamed when I lost you, because something in me was missing and I felt I was less than other people and would never do anything again. But today I have become a strong person, and I feel confident every time I look at you. I went out and sold things, I made friends, and I started walking long distances. I do things that people with two legs cannot do. I love you so much."

This is what repression looks like. Opponents of Israel’s genocide in Gaza have faced a crackdown at all levels of British society, a new index by legal experts has found, with arrests, threats, sackings, harassment, censorship and even physical violence playing a role in crushing pro-Palestinian voices. One of the three journalists killed in the Israeli airstrike on a clearly marked humanitarian vehicle in central Gaza early Wednesday was Abed Shaat, a veteran freelance cameraman who worked closely with CBS News for years and regularly filed footage from Gaza, CBS News said on Wednesday ➤ Shaat, 30, has recently married, and was remembered by CBS colleagues as a brave, highly skilled journalist working under extreme conditions. He had also contributed to AFP, though he was not on assignment at the time. ➤ The two other journalists killed were Mohammed Salah Qashta and Anas Ghneim. ➤ The Israeli military said in a statement that its troops "identified several suspects who operated a drone affiliated with Hamas in the central Gaza Strip, in a manner that posed a threat to their safety," and then "struck the suspects who activated the drone." ➤ As Drop Site News reported earlier, the journalists were embedded with the Egyptian Relief Committee and were filming humanitarian aid distribution when they were struck. Israeli forces routinely justify killings by claiming an unspecified “threat” without presenting evidence, a pattern Gaza authorities say has accompanied the killing of 483 Palestinians since the ceasefire 100 days ago, more than 96 percent of them struck inside residential areas far from the so-called “Yellow Line.”

Why are UAE-based influencers championing the RSF, which is responsible for numerous atrocities against Sudanese civilians? And why are Israeli govt accounts echoing their unsubstantiated claims?

NEW: 300+ writers, scholars and public figures – including almost 150 past New York Times contributors – have committed to refusing to write for the paper’s Opinion section until our the paper 1) addresses it's anti-Palestinian bias, 2) retracts the widely debunked investigation “Screams Without Words.” and 3) and calls for a U.S. arms embargo of Israel. The Opinion section is where the paper creates plausible deniability for its anti-Arab racism and its complicity in genocide. And while they treat the lies of the Israeli government as fact in their News section, they render the genocide debatable and relegate it to the Opinion page. But the section is nothing without the freelance contributors who write for it--and they are choosing integrity over prestige.

🚨BREAKING🚨 An Israeli military court has rubberstamped another 6-month extension of Dr. Abu Safiya’s detention. This is not justice — it’s hostage-taking, weaponized through the courts. Dr. Abu Safiya is held as a bargaining chip, not a prisoner of law but of politics.

🚨 Tomorrow, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya faces a hearing to rubberstamp the extension of his arbitrary detention — without charges or trial – for another six months. Dr. Hussam should have never been detained in the first place, let alone subjected to this ordeal of torture and abuse. Israel must immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Hussam and all arbitrarily detained Palestinians. ✍️ Act now: amn.st/6019ALQN7 #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya
