Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in May 2021 and though her death was the most investigated of any Palestinian in history, no one was held accountable. That impunity led to the killing of nearly 300 journalists in Gaza and settler attacks like the one today.

The Canadian government is planning mining infrastructure on First Nations’ land without their consent. The infrastructure would allow mining in the ‘Ring of Fire’ mineral deposit in northern Ontario. Forensic Architecture worked with Neskantaga First Nation and Infrastructure Beyond Extractivism to document Neskantaga’s jurisdiction along the route of a planned mining road. Drawing on interviews with elders and land users, community mapping, remote sensing and spatial analysis, the investigation traces Neskantaga's historic relation to the land. The resulting maps show that extractive infrastructure is planned on top of a dense Indigenous ecological and cultural fabric. Watch the full film here: forensic-architecture.org/in…

Delighted to welcome MP Salma Zahid to two Mississauga Palestinian events today. Her strength through a disgusting attack on her home with the incineration of two cars is admirable. Politicians are under attack today as open targets at a level not experienced in the past.

The first people to call for a free Palestine were not the Jews in the 1940s but the Palestinian Arabs in 1920s. Between 1920 & 1928, Palestinian Arab leaders held annual Palestinian Arab national congresses calling for a Free Palestine. In 1920, at the 3rd Palestinian Arab National Congress in Haifa, the Arabs of Palestine called on the British to establish "a national government responsible to representative assembly, whose members would be chosen from the Arabic-speaking people who inhabited Palestine until the outbreak of the War." In 1921, at the 4th Palestinian Arab National Congress in Jerusalem, they reiterated this call. In 1922, at the 5th Palestinian Arab National Congress in Nablus, they reiterated this call for a Free Palestine. In 1923, at the 6th Palestinian Arab National Congress in Jaffa, they reiterated this call for a Free Palestine. Source: Yehoshua Porath, The emergence of the Palestinian-Arab national movement, 1918-1929 (London: Cass, 1974), p.46 @EllaTravelsLove spends her 9-5 trying to convince you apartheid and genocide are chic. I spend my 9-5 studying the history of Palestine. archive.org/details/emergenc…
The first people to chant “Free Palestine” were Jews. Not in 2024. Not on campus. Not with the PLO. In the 1940s, Zionists used that exact slogan to free the Jewish homeland from British rule. Then the meaning was flipped>

My heart is bleeding for this hero. When is he leaving the prison? May Allah expedite his release now and protect him all the time. A truly heartbreaking story.
Doctors and activists take to the streets in Milan, demanding the release of Palestinian doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, held in Israeli detention camps.

The Israeli cabinet statement as captured in Israel Katz’s social media posts claiming to treat balloons and kites flown in the Gaza Strip as military drones further strips away any prospects for moments of joy for children in Gaza, who have been denied a childhood by Israel’s ongoing genocide. Third states must act and end Israel’s genocide. No more impunity for Israel’s disregard for international law.

The only member of parliament wearing a hijab had her house attacked with arson, and you refuse to call it hate motivated But when people protest a genocide, you scream anti-semitism
Last night, MP Salma Zahid’s car was set on fire outside of her home in Scarborough.   This is a cowardly act of violence and intimidation. It is unacceptable. It is not who we are as Canadians.   I’m relieved Salma and her family are safe. The Toronto Police have my full support as they search for the criminal or criminals responsible and ensure they are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

There seems to be very little recognition from Israeli officials and soldiers that when they boast about killing people, they are talking about real people whose lives they ended. This courageous aid worker did nothing to deserve to be killed, does not deserve to be called a legitimate target after she was murdered, and those responsible should still be prosecuted.
The Israeli government is now openly bragging about hunting down and killing this woman.

Thank you to @mandissent for launching their first original video article, which features zionist institutional efforts to denigrate and ultimately silence me and have my books canceled. They trace this campaign to a historic pattern the ADL has consistently used against Palestinians and other Arab Americans. mandissent.com/p/israel-lobb…

Canadian Muslims are shocked, horrified, and disgusted after this arson attack at the residence of MP Salma Zahid. We are in contact with her. While she remains resilient and brave as ever, we know many in our community are deeply alarmed given MP Zahid's years of passionate advocacy for human rights and against all forms of racism. We also know this is alarming for all Members of Parliament. We know a full and thorough investigation will take place. During that time, we ask that members of our community to send their prayers for the safety of MP Zahid and her family, and that the Merciful protects all leaders who stand to do the right thing.

To be fair, those people should have also seen Trump literally meeting with Netanyahu (in violation of the Logan Act), and realized he was going to be no better on Gaza, considering he was performing unauthorized diplomacy as a private citizen while manipulating the public.

Another archival masterpiece. The researchers, archivists, technologists, writers, and activists quietly doing this important work are heroes.
We are humbled to present the largest oral archive of testimony from Gaza produced since the genocide began, a collective memorial to the journalists who gave their lives to tell their people’s stories. LISTEN: bit.ly/livingrecord
