Change the algorithm! We are all locked in our algorithms making dialogue impossible. But India’s Gen Z found an ingenious “jugad”! They are advising each other on how to slowly change their parent’s algorithm to include their voices 😃⬇️

My former colleague @ravishranjanshu is one of the most sensitive reporters I have come across in media….Targeting him for the mic he carries is counter productive…

As DRC responds to the #Ebola outbreak, frontline health workers are applying @WHO’s newly updated Filovirus Clinical Management Guidelines to strengthen patient care.
Covering everything from early supportive care and fluid management to monitoring, treatment of complications and survivor follow-up, the guidelines help improve outcomes and save lives.

A lot of evidence now on the gendered impacts of climate change, especially heat stress. Our social safety nets & work places need to recognise & respond to women’s specific needs. @MinistryWCD @unwomenindia @WHOSEARO @UNICEFIndia @MoHFW_INDIA @LabourMinistry @MoHUA_India
$57 billion. That’s how much extreme heat costs women informal workers every year
📌Higher concentration of women in informal sector — upto 91% of women workers — in 4 cities studied
📌Without interventions, their losses could increase by 44% by 2050.
📌This will deepen gendered economic inequality.
📌It'll also impact a wider section of the society over a longer period of time, as women reinvest up to 90% of their incomes back into their families and communities.

Wanting an honest education system, and immediate accountability isn’t a political issue, it’s a human one. If a student wants to scream that message from a cockroach party, ruling party, opposition party, Bhangra party or a kitty party…they should have everyone’s support.
I am a big fan of GenZ. They have inherited a broken world where all the pillars of trust are shaken. The climate, democratic values, health, education, social justice and equity- Gen Z will need to negotiate a new world order. It all begins with peaceful dissent ⬇️

#Hantavirus cluster linked to cruise ship travel:
Since 1 April when the boat set sail, of the 147 passengers and crew, 7 people have become ill, among whom 3 have died, 1 is critically ill and 3 are reporting mild symptoms.
Based on the current information, including how hantavirus spreads, WHO assesses the risk to the global population from this event as low.
We are working closely with health authorities from the countries involved and the ship's operators to ensure passengers and crew get the information and support they need.
WHO will continue to monitor the situation and update the risk assessment as more information becomes available.

In 2008, the Netherlands faced a severe heatwave.
The government came up with a plan to protect cities from heatwave by planting trees along roads and in urban areas.
As a result, their roads and streets are now consistently cooler than the officially recorded temperatures.

India is currently the hottest large region on Earth by a huge margin with 95 of the world’s 100 warmest cities right now.
Large parts of northern and eastern India are experiencing extreme heat much earlier than usual, with dozens of cities in the 43–47°C range while most of the rest of the world is far cooler.
