First Pool Lab pre-print: bit.ly/3yoewcy. We resolve a major pain with 3’ single-cell RNA-sequencing (10x Genomics etc.) – missing gene expression data from thousands of genes. This stems from suboptimal reference transcriptomes and can easily be recovered. T below: 1/12

What are the guidelines for describing new cell types?
Surprisingly, there were not any general guidelines until last week, when our pre-print got out:

Excited to share our latest work - we use pan-neuronal 2 photon imaging to dissect how the #brain integrates multiple internal states to guide #food #choice! Fantastic work by @dahaniel who took on this challenging project almost solo! #drosophila biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… 1/21

How does neural connectivity support learning and memory? This (very long) paper provides insights, diving deep into the connectome of the fly mushroom body. A huge team effort that I was fortunate to be part of. Here are some of my favorite parts (1/22)

Super proud of @SebaCachero for leading this project from conception to validation – a long term project supported by @MRC_LMB. Final version available here rdcu.be/b9BAo (review process gave some nice additions compared with the preprint).
