Ten years ago I stopped posting to this account because I was ready to move beyond Twitter. I think we've built something unique over at Micro.blog. An open platform based on blogs, community principles, that peers with Mastodon too. Made by people who love the web.

Here's an incredible reference from @benwerd for how to engage in the blogging world. How to write. How to read. Many apps and services that will help you along the way: getblogging.org/

In light of everything happening at Twitter, a lot of people are wondering "where to go next". May I suggest, and I am speaking to myself here too, that you invest in your own blog on your own domain? Own your own content, and share your thoughts independently of dingaling CEOs.

Feedly’s great, but now I’m wondering why I stopped using NetNewsWire? I may have to install it again. Amazing how RSS is still one of the most useful, oldest & best, but somehow low profile web technologies.
This is pretty cool. If you want to open a Zavala outline from your Lock Screen you can do the same, but easier. Just click on a Collection that contains your outline and long press it in the list. Select “Copy Document Link” and use that with Widgetsmith.
You probably didn't know that Apple Notes has a hidden URL scheme to reopen individual notes.
Let me take you down a rabbit hole that involves Shortcuts, UUIDs, and URL schemes to create a Lock Screen widget for a specific note:

Um, may be time to start paying attention when Girls Who Code books start getting banned...
“The Girls Who Code books were banned specifically by Pennsylvania's Central York School District, located in a critical political swing region where Saujani said the organization has an active club.” businessinsider.com/girls-wh…

More people should use RSS. Most would be far happier consuming news. But the tech has *just* too much friction. Still, if you’re on Apple platforms, I strongly recommend checking out NetNewsWire (which can also follow Twitter accounts).
A new TestFlight version of Zavala is out. If you previously experiences crashing after pasting text in from another application, this should fix it for you. Available for both macOS and iOS.

Publicly admitting you have a mental disorder is very hard and takes a lot of courage. If we don’t talk about it though, the stigma will never go away.

This is something anyone can afford to do to help those suffering in the Ukraine. We should all be impressed that there are even pizza places open in Kharkiv that are capable of delivering to the shelters.

It would be great if Apple would some day create an open issue database. Leave the Radar/FB internal to Apple, and create a new thing, just for the users and developers. Modern, fast, with voting system and easy search for issues already submitted.
Apple would only benefit!

I got thinking about my super-short WWDC lab, and how it was both wonderful, and *incredibly infuriating*.
So, naturally, I wrote about how Apple’s Feedback Assistant Is fundamentally broken.

Overjoyed to announce my new iOS app, MaskerAid!
This is the easiest way to add emoji to an image. Plus, thanks to the magic of ✨ machine learning ✨, MaskerAid automatically hides faces in your images.
It’s free to try, and a one-time $3 in-app purchase to unlock all emoji.

Catching up on my feeds in #NetNewsWire and ran across a walk-through building a macOS app with SwiftUI: kean.blog/post/appkit-is-don… by Alex Grebenyuk (@a_grebenyuk). Contrary to the title, it's not AppKit vs SwiftUI. It's great seeing more content focused on building macOS apps!
