Suddenly, you're 5 years in to trading and have nothing to show for it.
You've tried it ALL. Daytrading. Options. Crypto. Prop firms. Perps. Futures. + whatever else people are doing.
Some of it worked for awhile. You got excited. But then the same old habits bit you in the butt. Causing you to blow up.
You don't want to stop trading (or maybe you can't). You love markets and want to figure this thing out. But don't know where to start...or what to stick with.
On top of that, you're no longer the kid is his mid 20s with no mortgage, no kids, no big bills, and no responsibilities.
It's a new chapter. Maybe you're married now. Have a big boy job. Nice apartment. Or house even. Kids soon. Whatever it may be.
So the "pressure" to make money is higher. As a man, you carry this huge weight to provide for your fam so you can't afford (financially & mentally) to keep doing stupid stuff in the markets.
That persona is probably all too familiar for many of you guys (me included at one point).
So what's the next step? What do you do?
Well I can only tell you what I did, step by step.
1) take the "money pressure" off.
- have a stable income, some savings, business, or 9-5 job...whatever, just something to relieve to pressure to make money immediately
Ok great, so now you have a couple grand coming in every month. This is essential. You don't HAVE to make $$$ right away.
2) once the money pressure is off, choose your strategy, vehicle, & risk framework.
- which i confidently believe is swing trading common stock, using a trailing stoploss, riding strong stocks/themes/environments.
I will die on this hill. Swing "trading" should effectively mirror buy & hold investing if done right via good stock picking, a good entry, & trailing stop.
Your goal isn't to be a trader, it's to have a exponential return on invested capital. That's it.
3) Doing less button-clicking
- part of why I started writing here on X or posting videos was to take me away from getting roped into trading more.
find something (either related to trading or not) that takes your eyes off the charts...or prevents you from watching every candle
the market IS the lever...not your skills, ai tradingbot, button clicking, indicators, or research even.
time in the market AND timing the market
4) finding a partner, mentor, friend
- might be a controversial one, but somebody needs to hold you accountable. As an active trader, there is just too much noise our ears daily to go at it solo.
we need another human-being to act as a hybrid of our risk manager, coach, hype man, bully, friend, and more...all in one
i've had the pleasure of meeting some great ones here on x and also working with a few folks myself now.
5) let trading decisions be made FOR you
- remove yourself from the octagon of decision-making
Limit orders at support levels, trailing stop losses, predetermined position sizes, rules.
you might be good at finding great stocks, but you're probably bad at leaving great stocks alone. I was.
Anyways. this post got a little bit long but THIS is what active investing should look like.
I look at every single block of shares that I buy as its own entity. So if I buy 1000 shares of NVDA, that ledger line is its own entity & I treat it as a fully independent trade. It has its own trailing stop loss attached to it. I will do a longer post on this psychology.
My entire philosophy can be boiled down to: Do the work to get in before the move. Enter the trade. Place your trailing stop. Leave it alone, your job is done.
That's how your equity curve gets magnetized to the stratosphere.

Another 3D build with @deepseek_ai DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017
This is also an one-shot result, no harness, not using any other software like Blender, all in code without any external assets, just Three.js
A narrow three-story Victorian townhouse, brick chimneys, panelled door and a small front garden with a gate.
Again, another Insane build, i can't believe these results are from flash model.
Undoubtedly DeepSeek cooked just right with this "minor update"
Replying to @deepseek_ai
@deepseek_ai DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 is insane for 3D
This is one-shot result, no harness, not using any other software like Blender, all in code without any external assets, just Three.js
Look at the details, remember this is one-shot, it's also running real smooth, no frame drops as well.
This is insane, i cannot believe we are getting this with a Flash model

Best EPS growth in CY 2027? Analysts clearly think small caps...

Goldman: Our baseline forecasts point to decelerating - but still solid - growth into 2027.
We expect S&P 500 EPS growth of 36% in 2026 will slow to 11% in 2027. Adjusting for non-recurring accounting distortions to 2026 earnings, our forecast for earnings growth in 2027 would register 18%.
Our forecasts assume a modest deceleration in real US economic growth in coming quarters, in part reflecting the drag from higher oil prices and interest rates. In addition, we estimate that AI capex is currently contributing about half of S&P 500 EPS growth, and that impulse should diminish into 2027 as capex growth slows and depreciation expenses build.
Goldman: Intensifying concerns about the cost and availability of funding have caused investors to reduce their equity market exposures and price a deceleration in the growth outlook.
Rising energy prices and interest rates have weighed on the performance of many cyclical equities since early August. During the last two weeks, however, the potential implications of a sharply rising cost of capital on the AI build-out have weighed further on the market outlook for economic and earnings growth.
Exacerbating these rotations, this week GS Prime Services noted a sharp reduction in hedge fund net leverage alongside a positioning pullback in AI-related stocks.

Nobody doubles their money every year trading. Not Druckenmiller, not Renaissance, not you.
That’s the starting point of Peter Brandt's sit-down with Dale Pinkert during our Festival of Trading. Two traders who’ve been at it since the 1970s on what actually keeps you in the game: sizing, exits, and treating trading as a craft you learn, not a lottery you win.

Да, буквально весь мир, персонажи, окружение и спецэффекты нарисованы разноцветным текстом.
Автор сейчас экспериментирует с магией, визуалом и боссами. Я прям залип на то, как из нескольких десятков символов получается такая красота.

BofA’s Hartnett (Flow Show) says the summer of “extreme bull sentiment” is over, and “we continue to lean risk-off next 3-4 weeks given 3% real yields, need for Fed to hike Oct 28th, US/Iran/Russia/ Ukraine/oil, rising risk of ‘wave-like’ DEM sweep midterms, price action AI spenders & lenders.”
He notes BofA expects an October FOMC hike which will “restore credibility” (CPI has been above the Fed’s 2% target for 66 straight months) that pulls long-end yields down “another 20bps,” which limits the downside “so long as AI financing fears abate.”

How long do rotations out of Tech last?
DB says since mid-2024 the average is 67 days and the median 59 days, and on average the mega-cap growth and tech cohort sees a -16.6% drawdown (median -14.6%), so we're still relatively early in this rotation if that's what we're seeing.
DB continues their caution from last week on the Tech trade:
The rotation into Tech has advanced considerably, and the near-term risk-reward no longer looks favorable. Last week, we highlighted that the rotation that began in late July—the fifth in the past two years—was approaching the upper boundary of its long-run trend channel, a level from which it has reversed several times previously.
Tactically, the potential upside is now limited to roughly 4 percentage points of further outperformance before reaching the top of the channel, versus potentially 16 percentage points of relative downside if the historical pattern of rotations near the channel’s boundaries holds. Prior rotations have featured inverted-V reversals rather than gradual turns.
