Did you know - Tinybirdfarts and I left our corporate jobs 2 years ago to pursue our webcomic dream full time! Here's us talking about this bold move - thank you so much @Viencylee, @clybaby & the team at ComixSG for making this possible! youtube.com/watch?v=H_qVm3qf…
GUYS, GET THIS GAME. I had the lovely chance to playtest Swordfarer with Shao today and had to come on and RAVE about the amazing three hours I had just disappearing into the jianghu! I immediately made it sapphic, which was very predictable of me.

Excited to launch the 1st print of "Swordfarer: A Yóuxiá's Tale"/ "游侠传奇" tomorrow at @MakersQuestSG Creators Market 2023!
I built this solo journaling game (using d6s and playing cards) of melancholic wǔxiá vagabonds off "Guided by Firelights" by @RPDeshaies/ @FariRPGs!
There were so many other open plotpoints to pursue that we cldnt tackle before the end of the playtest, because the game's mechanics were able to delicately prompt and provide "stones" for you to turn over when ever it feels right for you to do so.

Bang out that novel and try not to die. Live fucking más, the planet is boiling and no one will care if something was beautiful once! Make trash!

all that glitters IS gold—that’s foil, baby!!
ALT UK hardcover of He Who Drowned the World: a gold foil phoenix rising up from ominous dark blue waters rendered with a traditional Chinese wave pattern
Very exciting discussions today with the comixsg team & @playboxcreates for our upcoming season of Red Dot Comics Den, a podcast all about Singaporean comics! We have new things planned and I'm so psyched to see where this goes. More news to come in Aug/Sep 👀👀👀

reminder that if you’ve preordered He Who Drowned the World, upon publication I’ll send you an exclusive adult short story ft. our favourite/worst meow meows Wang Baoxiang and General Ouyang!!
(aka HOLD MY BEER BITCHES, WE’RE GOING FULL FANFIC)
ALT Art by @glassbearer. Two very feminine men in flowing gowns are on a garden patio among romantic peony-shaped lanterns. One of the men (Ouyang) is drunk and barely able to keep himself sitting upright, while the other (Wang Baoxiang) kneels beside him and caresses his face with an amused, slightly malicious expression. This is a scene from the exclusive preorder reward short story, "Take His Memory to Your Grave"
If you want the highly spicy story that this card is illustrating, preorder He Who Drowned the World from any retailer, anywhere in the world (or request it from your library or bookstore), and head here to register: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…

i grew up in Hangzhou, and not far from where this building is
the proximity of stores & services? not a real problem. it's a good thing, in fact
but there actually IS a big problem going on inside of it!! a problem that is an inevitable consequence of neoliberal capitalism
🧵
20,000 people live in this building in China. It has supermarkets, shops, hairdressers, pharmacies.
The 15mn gulag in a single building.

🌈 Hey Rainbow Readers! Our next list is queer high/epic fantasy! This is for readers who loved books like The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, The Jasmine Throne by Tashi Suri, and Girls of Paper & Fire by Natasha Ngan! 🧵
ALT The graphic is a photo of giant church-like windows. The sun is setting in the windows. At the bottom is a tiny figure of a person wearing armor and holding a sword. In white font it reads “Queer high/epic fantasy books to read for pride”. At the bottom of the graphic it says @rainbowcratebookbox in all caps and white font.

My publisher @invisibooks has created a pre-order page for THE LANTERN AND THE NIGHT MOTHS, an anthology of Chinese poetry I edited/translated (that includes Qiu Jin's work), accompanied by my essays on translation. Please consider pre-ordering!

Um, hey @britishmuseum, it's come to my attention that your exhibit "China's hidden century" uses my translations of Qiu Jin's poetry, but you never contacted me for permission. Please note this is a copyright infringement! How are you going to fix this?? #NameTheTranslator

If volunteer-run online magazines can figure out how to publish translations without full-on copyright infringement, the British Museum has no excuse. Translation is part of the artistic process and needs to be compensated and credited.
