More false information about Abdul: Detroit is in Wayne County, but itโs NOT under the Wayne County Health Departmentโs jurisdiction. Detroit has its own health department.
Wayne County itself says its public health jurisdiction is โWayne County, except for the City of Detroit.โ
Wayne County DID NOT fund public health initiatives in Detroit because it was โoutside the countyโs public health jurisdiction.โ Those are his words, not mine.
It wasnโt until he was running for U.S. Senate and getting paid under a secret contract with the county that he decided to make phone calls to help fund RxKids in Detroit, per his own invoices. What changed? His will.
El-Sayed is the type of leader who lights the house on fire, then complains about how long it took the fire department to show up, then files a lawsuit blaming the city because he lost everything in the fire.
How has El-Sayedโs air quality monitoring program benefitted Detroit? Despite not being the countyโs jurisdiction, somehow, the countyโs contractor Just Air and Detroit Hamtramck Coalition did an air quality study in Detroit, which has been used by activists to fight Kronos Concrete. When that didnโt work out in their favor, an activist posted intimate, private photos of Mary Sheffield and her ex-boyfriend to pressure her into meeting with them and ultimately to shut the project down โ in other words, to extort her. Now the city has multiple pending investigations, the same air quality, 10x more stress, and no policy changes โ all thanks to your own tax dollars, and all in the name of โfighting corporate polluters.โ
If he truly wanted to help people breathe cleaner air, he couldโve used taxpayer money to help county residents purchase whole-home air purifiers for their homes, like residents near Stellantis were begging the city to do. Most of the complaints Wayne countyโs health department receives are about mold in homes so it wouldโve been justified. Hard to imagine Warren Evans wouldโve told him no anyways โ heโs the ultimate โyes man.โ
Iโm not out to get anybody. Iโve watched Detroit City Council meetings every week and Wayne County Commission meetings every other week since 2021. The public record donโt lie, baby!

It happened again.
Another Black woman journalist asked tough, necessary questions of Donald Trump and was met with disrespect instead of answers.
Black women journalists are doing their jobs with professionalism, preparation and integrity.
