As an older millennial that was a teenager for these movies, I do not remember anybody saying the prequels sucked at the time. That was social media revisionism by nerdy edgelords on social media 10 years later. Episode I is a masterpiece (and Empire is still my favorite)

Dandadan's problems as a manga come down to the fact that it's unwilling to let the central relationship develop for fear of losing its audience. What's worse is that comics that do this kind of thing end up producing neurotic fans who start to see everything as cuck fantasies.

Every cradle of civilization based its existence on modified grass. Corn, wheat, rice, emmer, barley, oats, all grass. Grass didn't exist until the late Cretaceous and didn't spread until the Oligocene, 30 mya. The Great Filter is grass.

Actually it was the Wayans that forced the NFL’s hand to change the halftime show. The NFL used to phone the halftime shows in with groups like “Up With People” so K Wayans did In Living Color counter programming same time as halftime & beat ratings. NFL booked MJ that next year

obviously it’s because there was no marketing, the release was limited, and the reviews were awful, but the trades keep holding their breath for Jenna Ortega to emerge as a major box office draw for young people despite pretty clear signs that thats not going to happen

I feel like hip-hop/rap is the only genre where we dismiss our legends calling them “washed up”. You’ll never see someone call Roger Waters who still preforming Pink Floyd hits washed. Or someone like Bruce Springsteen. It’s honestly sad.

MANGA Plus関連の打合せで、現地出版社を訪問するためタイに出張していました。 現地では、漫画市場の伸び悩みや、読者の高齢化など、少し気になる話題がいくつか出ていました。 また、数年前と比べて、書店では往年の人気作品の新装版が目立つようになったとも感じました。 昨今よく話題になる日本のマンガの海外展開は、もちろん大事なことだと思います。 一方で、日本ではなぜ、この数十年間にわたって新しい人気のマンガやキャラクターが生まれ続けてきたのか。その仕組みを理解し、漫画雑誌を取り巻く環境が大きく変わる中で、どうすればそれをアップデートし、さらに発展させていけるのか。 漫画誌の編集部に所属する人間としては、まずそこが大事なのだと改めて感じました。 そのためにも、国内ではジャンプ＋、海外ではMANGA Plusを、新しいマンガが次々と生まれ、成長し、読者に届く拠点として、もっと発展させていかなければと思います。
