All people of goodwill and supporters of democracy across the world are relieved to see the trumped up treason charges against Comrade Tundu Lissu collapse, following his acquittal today.
These charges should never have been brought in the first place. Lissu’s only crime was to call for basic reforms to the electoral architecture in Tanzania to guarantee a fair process. He has lost over two years of his life in custody as he fought off the charges.
We encourage Ndugu Lissu, the CHADEMA Party and all our Tanzanian brothers to take heart and remain strong in their pursuit of justice and freedom, in the knowledge that all forces of regression are usually ultimately defeated.

We know this feeling oh too well as Linda Mwananchi Movement Party, every week one of us is abducted.
We must amplify the abduction of Wakili Abshir Abdi who is directly linked to a case at the Makadara Law Courts, where he complained against known NIS, ATPU and military intelligence officers. These officers had earlier indicated that they would interfere with the matter.
He was abducted and has not yet been found!

We strongly condemn the abduction of Trans-Nzoia County Deputy Speaker and our Linda Mwananchi Movement member Hon Obed Mwale by unknown armed individuals at Saiwa Safari Hotel in Kitale Town.
His whereabouts remain unknown, raising grave concerns about his safety and the growing threats to democratic freedoms. We demand his immediate release, full accountability and an end to intimidation, abductions and the weaponisation of security agencies against political opponents.
