Losses & debt for the public Crazy profit for the few connected private investors

Accounting officers for these public bodies should be forced to make good any losses resulting from the sale.
Same script as the Safaricom shares. Acquisition just before dividends are paid. Why would public entities buy shares and sale to undisclosed investors just before they earn dividends from the initial investment? Utter misuse of public resources

In functional societies, people use their income to improve their quality of life. In dysfunctional societies, a significant portion of that income goes into compensating for the government's failures.

So our NSSF savings were used to buy and hold KPC shares for Dangote until a time when it is convenient for him to take them up....our hard earned savings? Screw Kasongo, everything he stands for and anyone who supports him.

Explain this... As an African, you get European money to advocate for European wants before your own (YES, you are African) in your own African country, where your brother, sister lives and your best friend?? What is this???

Killing one dysnasty by creating a new more lethal than the last. What we are witnessing in the village is just hostility on steroids to make Villazens poor and a product in the capitalist system.

Capitalists say that capitalism leads to innovation. The same capitalism that is privatizing and monopolizing water for a profit? Basic needs should be a free public service. Entrepreneurs should be more creative to earn a profit.

My maternal side was almost wiped out. The men castrated including the boys, women including girls raped and killed. The girls would be made to dance to a singing game and the f***s would pick the little girl they liked most, Rape her to death.

When settlers wanted to steal land in Kenya, they forced Kenyans to move into concentration camps (ithamirio). They made sure the camps weren't very far from their grabbed land when they built plantations so that the people in concentration camps could provide free labor.

Nyumba Lazima Muingie: How New Laws (2022 - Date) Are Forcing You into Affordable Housing Units I have seen @Jim_Njue_ asking how exactly government will force people into the Affordable Housing. It is now clear that this was the intention, from President Ruto's recent remarks. For a long time, the ultimate Kenyan dream is about land. Owning a shamba, building a family home, and passing it down to your children means safety and independence. But things are changing fast under Ruto. The government is not using bulldozers to physically kick you off your land but instead, they have passed a lot of new laws between 2022 and 2026 to make rural life too expensive. If you look at the worst-case scenario, these laws work like a trap. Farming, keeping animals and building your own house is becoming nearly impossible. The government is quietly forcing you to give up your shamba. In the end, moving into a government Affordable Housing unit becomes your only choice to survive. Here is a long read on how the government is tightening the trap: 1. Making Farming and Keeping Animals Illegal To push you away from your independent country life, the government is targeting the three things you need to run a shamba: seeds, animals, and water. - The Seed Trap: Under the Seeds and Plant Varieties Act, it is now illegal to share, sell, or swap traditional local seeds with your neighbors. If you cannot afford to buy expensive factory-made seeds every single season, using your own family seeds can get you a big fine or jail time. -The Cow and Chicken Ban: New Livestock Bills say every single person who keeps animals must register with the government. If you keep, move, or slaughter a goat or chicken without a government license, you face two years in jail or a KSh 500,000 fine. -Paying for Water: The Water (Amendment) Act gives the government total control over all water. If you dig a borehole or take water from a nearby river for your crops without a costly government permit, you will face heavy fines. They are turning free water into an expensive item you have to buy. -No More Easy Loans: The Crop Laws Amendment stops local farming groups (cooperatives) from giving out easy loans. Now, only one big government body (KADCO) can give loans. Without local help, small farmers cannot get quick money for fertilizer, leading to failed crops and lost farms. 2. Market Lockouts: Blocking the Farmerโ€™s Income Even if you manage to grow crops and raise animals against all odds, selling your harvest has become a legal nightmare. - The eTIMS Tax Invoice Trap: The KRA now demands that every single farmer use eTIMS (electronic tax invoices) to sell anything to factories or big buyers. If you are selling a sack of maize or a crate of eggs, you must generate a digital tax receipt. Since most small farmers do not have smartphones or internet access, they are locked out of the market. You are forced to sell to brokers for pennies, and your profit disappears. 3. The Property: Taxing and Stealing Your Freehold Land The heaviest laws target your absolute ownership of land and your ability to hand it down to your kids. -The Death of Inheritance: The Land Control Bill gives a government committee the power to stop you from dividing your land. If you try to split your 3-acre shamba to give one acre to your child, the government can say "No." Your children are blocked from their own family land and have nowhere to build a home. -The Hidden Land Tax: The Land Laws (Amendment) Bill forces people with permanent land (freehold) near towns to pay a yearly fee to the government. If your family cannot find the cash to pay this new annual tax, the state can legally take your ancestral land and sell it at an auction. -Forced Town Zoning: Under the National Physical Planning Plan, the government can suddenly declare your rural village a "town area." When this happens, your land value changes, and your local county land taxes shoot through the roof. You are literally taxed off your own land. -The Cost of Building: If you try to stay on your shamba and build a simple house, the Finance Act adds a 10% to 30% tax on building materials like timber, plywood, and hardware. By making independent building too expensive, the government forces you to buy their ready-made housing blocks instead. 4. The Housing Trap: Taking Your Money and Evicting You Fast Once rural life is dead, the government uses financial laws to lock you into their housing complexes. - The Mandatory 1.5% Levy: The Affordable Housing Act, 2024 takes 1.5% of your gross salary or informal business income every month. If you fail to pay, KRA slaps you with a painful 3% monthly penalty that keeps growing. They take your money by force to build these houses, whether you want one or not. - The 5-Year Lock: If you buy a government affordable housing unit, the Affordable Housing Regulations state that you are banned from selling it for 5 years. You cannot sell it quickly to get cash and buy back a shamba elsewhere. - Express Evictions: If you lose your job or your business fails, the Business Laws Amendment cuts down the time you are allowed to owe rent or mortgage. The government can kick you out and repossess the house in just 20 to 45 days (down from 90 days). Your safety net is completely gone. Summary: The Simple Blueprint to Take Your Shamba 1. Your Seeds: Seeds & Plant Varieties Act - Bans sharing or selling traditional family seeds. Small farms go broke buying expensive corporate seeds. 2. Your Cows/Chickens: Livestock Regulatory Bills - Punishes unregistered animal keeping with 2 years in jail. Destroys local village farming and traditional safety nets. 3. Your Water: Water (Amendment) Act - Charges heavy fees and fines for boreholes and river water. Water becomes too expensive; crops dry up. 4. Your Crop Money: KRA eTIMS Mandate - Bans selling to big buyers without a digital tax receipt. Farmers can't sell their food and lose all income. 5. Your Children's Land: Land Control Bill - Government blocks you from dividing your shamba for your kids. Children cannot inherit land or build rural homes. 6. Your Land Title: Land Laws (Amendment) Bill - Forces permanent landowners to pay a new yearly tax. The government auctions your ancestral land if you can't pay. 7. Your Construction: Finance Act - Adds a 10% to 30% tax on timber and building metals. You are priced out of building your own independent home. 8. Your Salary: Affordable Housing Act - Automatically takes 1.5% of your money with a 3% penalty for delays. Bleeds your pockets dry to fund government flats. 9. Your Housing Unit: Business Laws Amendment - Cuts down eviction timelines to just 20โ€“45 days. Rapid homelessness if you miss a payment in the new flats.
