The Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment (SAGE) is one of the Government flagship interventions to support the older persons to increase their household incomes. @KagutaMuseveni encouraged the older persons to engage in projects that are less straineous to take care of. #IDOP2026

It was an honour to join H.E. @KagutaMuseveni, Rt. Hon. @JustineLumumba, Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Jacqueline Mbabazi Minister of State for Elderly Affairs, MPs for Older Persons, Uganda's Ambassador to Ireland, the Embassy of Ireland @IrlEmbUganda, and officials from @Mglsd_UG to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons at State House Entebbe @StateHouseUg. Having championed social protection for older persons and other vulnerable groups for over two decades, I am encouraged by the commitments announced: ✅ SAGE to be enhanced, with the eligibility age revised to 65 and the value of the grant increased ✅ Training and deployment of gerontologists and geriatricians in every district ✅ Elderly targeted PDM enhancement and wealth creation programmes so older persons remain active and productive I congratulate all older persons in Uganda and across the world on this International Day of Older Persons. @upfsp @NRMOnline #IDOP2026 #OlderPersons #SocialProtection #SAGE
