Moneycontrol reports nearly 30 investors on Stockal allege losses of over ₹100 crore. On 15 October, Apple, Nvidia and Amazon holdings in their accounts were sold without consent, and the money went into Zhibao, a thinly traded Chinese stock that then fell nearly 60%.
Stockal says the cause looks like phishing and finds no breach of its platform. DriveWealth, the US broker that holds the shares, told an investor the lapse was at Stockal’s end.
Many of these investors came through HDFC Securities, an investor in Stockal, which ended the tie-up in July 2024 and moved to Vested. Vested also clears through DriveWealth.
