The HTS regime’s promise of a “new Syria” comes with new restrictions on women’s education.
■ According to Syria’s Ministry of Higher Education admissions rules, women are excluded from multiple programmes at the National University of Defense Studies, including law, economics, sociology, IT and engineering disciplines.
■ In December 2024, Aisha al-Dibs, appointed head of the Women’s Affairs Office after regime change, told Al Jazeera that Syrian women would help build “a new country, the free country we all aspire for,” while she provides over major reversals in women’s rights, after university education was previously free and accessible to all men and women under Syria’s sovereign government.
■ For decades, Washington and its allies framed regime change in Syria as a fight for freedom and democracy. Yet the new authorities are introducing rules that restrict women’s academic opportunities.

It is genuinely astonishing just how Jolani, in just over a year and a half, has run Syria down into the ground harder than it ever was under the internationally sanctioned, isolated, and besieged Assad.
For emphasis: Syria in the twilight days of Bashar in 2024 was in the middle of a civil war, internationally isolated, had a third of its land occupied by the US & its allies, and was sanctioned to shit by the US and most of the world.
And yet bread circa 2024 cost 400 SYP, and it was 14k SYP = 1 USD; how do you go from that to an even worse situation? Now bread itself is over 4000 SYP and the exchange rate is 14500 SYP = 1 USD. And that is with US sanctions being lifted, and so called "international investments", aka various states from US to Israel to UAE & Saudi to Turkey buying up or just taking over Syrian land and resources.

They say elect lefts
Then say lefts have no power and must just become the tools of fascism
So they are advocating just giving a left mask to the genocidal rc program

The Human Nervous System vs a Red Sprite 👀
Electrical, plasma, jellyfish in the sky!
The most incredible image of a Sprite I’ve ever seen.
Sprites are essentially lighting that is ABOVE a thunderstorm.
Not so much rare, just VERY hard to capture or see.
They live for only a couple milliseconds.

He's the mayor. He has a legal department on salary. He dictates to the police. If a crime was committed why are there no arrests.
Tik tok videos are not government.
Mamdani: There is no explanation for these tactics. There is no explanation for federal officers firing this many rounds into a car that has a five year old in the car. Look at how many people live right here. This is a residential neighborhood. We are right here by a subway.
And the pretext of ICE is, in their words, to keep this country safe. How is it keeping everyone safe to have, as you just heard from the police commissioner, individuals wearing construction vests in masks with long guns? Residents have no idea if these are law enforcement agents, or if they are simply attacking someone on the street. And when it comes to ICE, it begs the question, what's the difference? There is no explanation for this.

A U.S. charity in Gaza is worried that teachers at its schools might stray from a curriculum it says promotes peace and tolerance, so it plans to record classroom conversations and use artificial intelligence to flag speech deemed “hateful” or “inciting.” apnews.com/article/gaza-chil…

Reporter: How do you define socialism personally?
JD Vance: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

Why is it painful for New Yorkers? You said no Jewish New Yorker has anything to do with Israel's action
This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.
The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.
Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.
To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

Did you know that even the Israeli navy took part in Israel's Hannibal Directive on October 7?

🚨More about the Hannibal Directive seemingly implemented by the navy at Zikim Beach on October 7.
"They (a navy boat) fired in every direction. It didn't matter who was on the beach, whether they were civilians or not, they just fired"
In an interview with Matan Shlomo, the son of Alin Shlomo, conducted on October 7, Matan tells Ran Binyamini, Kan Bet radio host, that a navy boat fired indiscriminately towards the beach, seemingly in an attempt to take down, at any cost, a number of Palestinian resistance fighters who were arriving at the beach on inflatable boats.

"I am with the idea of Resistance, whether it is oppressive or is oppressed, as they say. And beyond all political considerations, whether it failed or succeeded, stumbled here or triumphed there, I am with the resistance bc it follows a winding historical path to liberation."
I can say with certainty that ever since I first began to understand the world around me, my mornings began with Palestine; with news enough to ache my soul, turn my stomach, break my heart. Every morning I can remember carried some sorrow from there.
Except for one.
Three years ago today, for the first time in all the years I had known the world, I woke to something other than grief.
I will never forget.
