Goldsmith "Maher Nawras Sankari" was kidnapped from in front of his home in the city of Suqaylabiyah this morning, October 19, 2026, by a group of masked individuals riding in a Hyundai Avante.
CCTV footage showed the individuals ramming the goldsmith with the car before getting out and taking him to an unknown location.
This kidnapping comes after repeated attacks on Christians in the city of Suqaylabiyah from the neighboring town of Qalaat al-Madiq, in addition to an armed robbery last week targeting a gold shop belonging to a Christian man, Bassam Yabroudi, in the Christian-majority Bab Touma area of the capital, Damascus.

#WesternSyria : #Suqaylabiyah Attacked Three Times This Year by Gunmen from Qalaat al-Mudiq, So Where Is the Accountability? And Why Do They Find It So Easy to Attack the City Again and Again?
Suqaylabiyah, a Christian-Orthodox-majority city, was attacked during 2026 by a group of Jolani regime thugs coming from the town of #Qalaat al-Mudiq three times this year, in March, in July, and yesterday in October.
Official media claimed yesterday that a "brawl" had taken place and that they had detained "those involved." What official media did not say is that yesterday, a group of pro-Jolani thugs attacked the city, opened fire, vandalized and smashed shops, and wounded a woman with gunfire, and that the #HTS-led General Security militias arrested young men from Suqaylabiyah because they tried to stop the attack on their shops.
So where is the accountability when the same city is attacked repeatedly, three times in a single year? Are the attackers arrested? Are they held accountable? They find it easy to carry out the attack each time because they know there will be no consequences for it.
In the end, the Christian presence in Syria continues to shrink, with emigration rising as a result of growing extremism and the danger it poses to them and their property, and due to the absence of a state or Security apparatus to provide them with protection.

#SouthernSyria: Kurdish Man Kidnapped in #Suwayda Countryside, Kidnappers Demand Large Ransom
Citizen Abdulaziz Amin al-Othman, 51, was kidnapped on the afternoon of Friday, October 16, 2026, in the northern Suwayda countryside, on the road linking the towns of Atil and Selim village, according to circulating reports.
According to sources, the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of $100,000 in exchange for his release. The family of Mr. Amin al-Othman filed an official report with the Internal Security Directorate affiliated with Suwayda.
It is worth noting that Abdulaziz al-Othman is originally from #Kobani and has resided in Suwayda for around 30 years, working in well drilling. Details of his kidnapping and the location where he is being held remain unknown.

#Syria:The Path to Converting the Syrian Judiciary into a Sharia Judiciary
Following the recent judges' examination, which accepted 200 judges exclusively from the Sunni community , the vast majority of them graduates of #Idlib, the #STG issued a decision covering students of the notorious "Idlib University." Under this decision, students of the Faculty of Sharia/ Faculty of Law, led by the Salfist "Anas Airout", are each granted two degrees! This is despite Syrian law stipulating that the two faculties are separate and distinct branches.
Just days ago, #SANA news agency reported on a meeting at the Ministry of Justice, under the authority of the terrorist Mazhar al-Wais, launching an initiative called "Elite Future Judges," described as aiming to recruit students from the Faculty of Law and Sharia. We note again: Sharia students in Syria do not study law, and Syrian law does not permit them to work as judges....
But is this a coincidence?
No. Looking back to 2025, Decision No. 89, dated January 29, appointed fourteen graduates of Islamic Sharia faculties to positions of "heads of judiciary" (referred to as "sheikh") in the provinces, positions that do not exist in any legal text. These "sheikhs" replaced the position of public prosecutor, and 51 judges (who held law degrees) were dismissed, justified only by the phrase "based on the requirements of the public interest," without any legal justification.
The appointment of Sharia faculty graduates (including the Minister of Justice himself) to judicial positions was not limited to heads of judiciary. "Anas Mansour al-Suleiman" was appointed head of the Court of Cassation (the highest judicial authority in Syria) without holding a law degree, in clear violation of the Judicial Authority Law, which requires legal qualifications and seniority.
"Ibrahim Shasho" was also appointed head of the Judicial Inspection Department despite not holding a law degree, relying instead solely on his degree in Islamic Sharia.
So is the STG, under the terrorist Mazhar al-Wais, racing against time to gradually convert Syria's judiciary into a Sharia judiciary, taking regressive steps backward, ultimately ending in rule by "Islamic Sharia" law?

Yet, lectures on "Ibn Taymiyyah" the spiritual father of the Salafisim, who issued religious rulings "Fatwa" declaring all those belonging to minorities and different religions as infidels and permitting their killing, continue to be held.
Anas Airout holds the position of member of the Fatwa Council in Syria, in addition to serving as dean of the Faculty of Law and Sharia at Idlib University.
Residents of Baniyas from the Alawite community accuse him of having been behind the al-Qusour neighborhood massacre in Baniyas.

Mr. Emad Suleiman was killed after being shot by gunmen in a car, while he was working selling fuel in front of his home in the #alWaleed Suburb area of Homs.
Local sources reported that the gunmen approached him in their car claiming they wanted to buy fuel, then opened fire on him directly, yesterday evening, October 17, 2026.
Mr. Emad Suleiman was originally from the village of Jourat al-Jawamees in the #Draykish countryside of #Tartus governorate, and belonged to the Alawite community.
