DHS's review of citizenship applications plummeted by 73% since last year and approvals are down by even more. Admin officials are touting the naturalization decrease as a win for Trump's agenda. @Ximena_Bustillo & @kreighbaum took a dive into the data: news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law…

A small (14-seat) Journey jet from Mesa, AZ, w/ stops in Puerto Rico & Senegal, is currently en route to a deportation stop in Sub-Saharan Africa. We believe this flight is likely bound for Kenya w/ at least some Somalis onboard as we've been tracking a transfer plane's activity.

Border wall contractors are planning to bulldoze thousands of saguaro cactuses along the southern end of the sovereign Tohono O'odham Nation, starting immediately. Cutting down a saguaro would land you or me in jail with a felony — but armed with sweeping legal waivers, DHS plans to obliterate thousands of them with impunity. “Trespassing on our land to remove the sacred saguaros is like having masked men break into your house and take away your children,” Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Verlon Jose said in a statement. “The ha:sañ [saguaro] are our family, as much a part of us as any blood relative. To destroy them by the thousands carves a wound in our hearts that will not heal.” I took this video at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in 2020, where I used to work for the National Park Service before returning to document wall construction tearing through the Sonoran Desert. I filmed hundreds of these ancient desert sentinels plowed over without a thought. The Tohono O'odham Nation is now bracing for a far worse version of what we saw at Organ Pipe, where they were only building one wall. On O'odham land, they're fighting to build two.

It’s hard to be shocked anymore. But this is such an outrageous betrayal of the values — and likely the international law— of refuge that the United States not long ago championed. #asylum #refugees
A Nicaraguan political activist was imprisoned by Ortega for nine months and says he was tortured in that time. He fled to the US, but was denied asylum by the Trump admin. He begged to be sent to a third country, but was sent back to Nicaragua, where he's been imprisoned again.

Just brutal to see. DHS contractors just plowed through the last of the four ancient cottonwood trees in Arizona--a tree older than the border itself--to make way for a double border wall through critical jaguar habitat. A dozen protestors were arrested today trying to stop this travesty.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD ⬇️

BREAKING: DHS contractors are toppling the last of four ancient cottonwoods to build double border walls across the San Rafael Valley. The wall cuts through the key remaining wildlife corridor for endangered jaguars between Arizona and Sonora, where human border crossings are seldom seen. A protest camp had occupied and protected this tree for more than 60 days, halting construction. The camp was raided and campers were arrested this morning. This wall will effectively lock the remaining jaguars in the U.S. into solitary confinement, while permanently marring one of the last remaining wild places along the Arizona border.

The boat strikes are still happening. The death toll now stands at 238.
On October 4, under the direction of #SOUTHCOM, Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere executed a lethal, kinetic strike on a go-fast vessel operating along established narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean. Confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel's active involvement in narco-trafficking. The operation killed four narco-terrorists. @DeptofWar

Terminations at ICE in 2026 are higher than the entire decade leading up to Trump’s second term, including many new hires. Tenured ICE officer: “Almost every week people are being fired due to failed backgrounds.” ICE touted its receiving 220,000 applications under Trump and has hired 12,000. Many terminated new hires were let go on the job or because they failed a background check that wasn't completed before they hit the street and were given a badge and gun, which speaks to the type of applicants who ARE being hired and potentially the lack of attention HR is giving the matter. All an effort to staff up ICE and speed up deportations by 2029, when a new POTUS could walk back what Trump is doing. washingtonexaminer.com/polic…

One of the most important immigration cases in a generation. The Trump admin claims a 1996 law mandated the detention of millions without a right to seek bond, yet no one noticed until 2025. A victory would greenlight mass detention at levels not seen since Japanese internment.
