The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame mourns the passing of Bob Pettit, a sleek, skilled big man who revolutionized the forward position during his career. The 11-time NBA All-Star and 2-time MVP retired as the all-time leading scorer in NBA history and left an enduring legacy. He led the St. Louis Hawks to the 1958 NBA championship over the Boston Celtics. The Basketball Hall of Fame salutes this true giant of the game.

A very good day for Ole Miss. Sugar Bowl. Tulane Stadium. New Orleans. January 1, 1960. Ole Miss 21, LSU 0. Just like last season’sSugar Bowl with Georgia, this game with the Tigers was a rematch from the regular season. The Rebels do well in rematches in New Orleans.

My heart is broken this morning….we have lost Coach Bertman. The best to ever fill out a lineup card….the man who changed college baseball forever and the man who built the best baseball program in the country @LSUbaseball As great a coach he was, even a better man that touched countless lives! So thankful I got to see him last night and tell him how much I loved him 1 more time! 🙏💜💛 #15 #4everLSU

During the 1957 @TheOpen at St Andrews, competitors playing behind Cary Middlecoff demonstratively complained of his slow play. They officially protested to the R&A, which sided with Middlecoff, who had completed his 18-hole round with Antonio Cerdá in three hours and 18 minutes. Much like the official complaint in 1952 against Bobby Locke..... 3 hours 20 mins. Peter Thomson: "In 1952 at Lytham (Royal Lytham & St Annes) Bobby Locke won the championship by one stroke, from me. Norman Von Nida went off his head yelling and screaming and saying that Locke should be disqualified, or at least given a two-stroke penalty, for playing slowly. They clocked him at three hours and twenty minutes." Read more on this interview I did with the great Peter Thomson, here. insidegolf.com.au/feature-ar… Cary Middlecoff only played The Open Championship once. He won 39 times on the PGA Tour including 2 US Opens, 1 Masters. He is 10th all time wins on the PGA Tour
