Just here to spread the good word of steak-umm
friendly reminder in times of uncertainty and misinformation: anecdotes are not data. (good) data is carefully measured and collected information based on a range of subject-dependent factors, including, but not limited to, controlled variables, meta-analysis, and randomization

I'm late to the party on this one, but it brought me joy. Also, makes a great Philly cheesesteak

A worry junior engineers and new hires frequently have is that they ask too many questions. The most common advice I've heard is to try to figure it out yourself for 30 min, and if you're still stuck, ask. This is reasonable advice, but I don't think it's actually very good.

I just started reading Bad Blood and boy, is it unnerving. And also, the Taylor Swift song is stuck in my head

Really interesting- I'd love to see follow-up comparing prescriptions for drugs with pharma payments to prescriptions for alternatives, or looking at change in prescriptions over time

I got a C in analysis and dropped to a lower-level version. I flailed for that C, but I'd been one of two women in the higher class and felt like I had something to prove Sometimes it's good to take a step back. In the lower class, I started loving math again instead of drowning
4 years ago I got a 0 on a quantum physics exam. i met with my professor fearing i needed to change my major & quit physics. today, i’m in a top tier astrophysics Ph.D program & published 2 papers. STEM is hard for everyone—grades don’t mean you’re not good enough to do it.

Also, thanks to @andrew0hoffman who worked with me on the project behind this talk (and gave great feedback and ideas for the presentation)!
