Being a small budget, analytics heavy team means exploiting market inefficiencies. And for a long time, those market inefficiencies were about playing ugly baseball. But now everyone plays ugly baseball. So the new market inefficiency is playing pretty baseball. I'm not joking.

Actually the mainstream stuff I have seen _has_ been pushing the "he's a saint" narrative: an ICU nurse. A saluter of veterans. Good son. Lover of puppies.
It doesn't matter!
He doesn't have to have been an alter boy (and hell, maybe he was!)
He shouldn't be dead.

There are about 12,000 ICE officers.
There are about 35,000 sworn NYPD. The latter have been filmed (by themselves and others) in almost every interaction for 10 years. And yet NYPD has had fewer questionable incidents over years than ICE has had over a few months.
I agree it's hard to determine exactly how bad ICE is behaving from a few (dozen, hundred, thousand) isolated (semi-isolated, inundated) awful incidents, but those incidents are so damn awful, they suggest systemic problems.
Renee Good had an agent walk around her car for no sensible reason, twice getting in front of it.
Two agents came charging up, screaming at her to get out of her car, and immediately grabbing at her door handle, when the sensible approach of any experienced law enforcement officer would have been to calmly approach and engage her in conversation, and only then ask her to step out of the vehicle.
When she (foolishly) starts to drive away, Ross immediately drawing a weapon and shooting three times at a middle-aged suburban mom with a dog in the back is batshit insane.
(Yes, yes, tell me she could have been a killer. You've seen people go nuts on Cops! Please. If your people skills told you Good was a killer, you need to stay home forever.)
Sure, Renee Good's death is an isolated incident, but all three officers involved behaved terribly. Add that to all the other isolated incidents, and the decision to mask these officers as if they were Central-American paramilitaries, and a pattern of systemic disaster emerges.

The cycling community is going to be enthused to learn what you can legally do if you are bumped by a car.

I can't speak for anyone else but I thought the point of calling out imbecilic things from the elites was to get a better elite, not to sniff glue in its place.

The right's attitude toward crime prevention seems very similar to the left's attitude toward healthcare, where both think the root problem is that the government won't just give it to them, when the actual problem is that it's difficult and expensive to provide.

If one committed a terrorist attack, it would be the top story in the country.
This should be in a psychology textbook under the heading of negativity bias.

Navarro and RFK jr are working around the clock to re-establish the prestige of experts.
Nothing like a war or a stock market crash to summon up the feeling that before this we’ve made up a lot of fake problems to get mad about.

Yeah the economy is tanking, but did you consider the draft picks we’ll get next year?
I'm in a support group with a bunch of parents (mostly moms) who have lost their spouses and they are all extremely tired of everyone telling them what they are supposed to do. I realized everyone must be doing the math and realizing correctly "yeah, he's not going to do that."
