Another weekend of pushing sled hockey players around the ice. Already had a spectacular wipeout. Involved skating over a broken stick and simultaneously getting hit from behind. Thankfully, there are no photos or video. (Photo is from last year)

Need a new hockey helmet in two months (helmets are only certified for 6.5 years; not 6, not 7, 6.5). I can pay $65 or I can pay $550. Both certified to protect my head should I crack my noggin on the ice (which I have done), both from CCM, and neither will make me skate faster:

Apparently the $550 model is "is engineered to better manage complex rotational and multi-velocity impacts for high-speed play." I have definitely had "complex rotational and multi-velocity impacts." My impacts with the ice have been described as rather spectacular, a few times.
