In our daily experience of a broken world in need of renewal, the promises of Scripture can seem distant. We know there is nothing new under the sun, but each day brings disorienting new challenges. How can words spoken to ancient people offer a way for us to see more clearly, and even be part of, God’s work in the world today? In an Online Conversation with @profNTWright, we’ll explore Isaiah’s profound prophecies and what their “now and not yet” fulfillment can mean in our lives. Discussing his new book, "Into the Heart of Isaiah," we’ll discover three key movements: the original revelation of Israel’s God; the early Christian understanding of Jesus; and Paul’s vision of the church’s role in implementing the new covenant. From this ancient wisdom, Prof. Wright will help us to understand our part in God’s grand narrative today. Register here: ttf.org/events/online-conver…

Speaking on “Constitutional Governance and the Rule of Law,” Judge Patrick Shiltz said, “Wherever there has been a free society that eroded into an unfree society, there has been the apathy of good people.” Rather than heroism, he said, the antidote to this apathy is simply “a matter of caring about the things that hold us together.”

New Podcast! What does it mean to truly see? In a world that rewards speed, certainty, and quick judgment, the patient work of attention can feel almost countercultural. Yet learning to see clearly—to notice beauty, to attend to the people before us, and to look beyond our assumptions—may be essential to learning how to love well. The Victorian artist and missionary Lilias Trotter devoted her life to just this kind of attention. Though a gifted painter said she could become one of the greatest artists of her generation, Trotter instead chose a quieter and more hidden path. Author and artist Jennifer Trafton’s latest book, “If We Could Only See,” traces the remarkable life and legacy of Lillias Trotter. She joined Cherie for a conversation about what Lillias can teach us about seeing the world—and one another—with greater patience, humility, imagination, and love. From the nation’s founding to today, Americans have wrestled with a fundamental question: What role should faith play in a democratic society? Many have argued that we should keep faith and politics separate–that less religion in public life would lead to a more peaceful and unified democratic nation. Yet in reality, as religious practice has decreased, our nation has grown increasingly polarized, anxious, and unstable. Can faith help us recover the trust and shared purpose that holds our diverse society together? @MatthewKaemingk and @ShadiHamid argue that it can in their new book, "Can Religion Save Democracy? How More Faith–Not Less–Can Heal Our Public Life." Across their differences in faith, they find hopeful common ground, explaining how secularism has deepened our divides and how the resources of faith can help us rebuild our commitment to democracy. The struggles of men and boys concern us all. More studies and data suggest that boys and men are falling behind in key measures of education and workforce participation, as well as growing more isolated, disconnected, and ensnared in online porn and gambling. Others are falling sway to the call of influencers espousing a view of masculinity rooted in brutal domination. Against these forces, what can be done? @RichardVReeves is a needed voice of hope and help. He offers both practical responses and helpful insight on the nature and necessity of character formation in living wisely and well. He’ll be joined in conversation by @ChristineEmba, a perceptive observer and writer on gender and sexuality, youth culture, and social norms. In this conversation, we’ll explore together what it means to live lives of character, connection, and flourishing — and what faith and the formative power of faith communities can contribute to our crisis of identity and isolation. You can register now for this Evening Conversation in Washington, DC, at the @PressClubDC on Tuesday evening, October 13, from 6:15-8:45 pm. The evening will begin with drinks and appetizers, followed by remarks and discussion, and a time for audience questions. ttf.org/events/evening-conve…

Was religious toleration towards Jews or other minority Christian sects (i.e., Quakers) typical during George Washington's presidency? @DavidAFrench says it was not, which is why Washington's letters on religious freedom were so revolutionary. In thinking about Annie, Tish Harrison Warren writes, "She reminds me that there was a time, not long ago, when people read not just hot takes on screens, but long, crafted prose, when books about seeking God in frogs, muskrats, and maple keys could be national bestsellers," and today we hope you'll take the time to find a book worth slowing down for.

How do we live a life of meaning, in a time when so many competing voices tell us who to be, what to want, and how to live? Told to construct meaning for ourselves, we find anxiety instead of wisdom, and exhaustion instead of clarity. For the decisions we face each day, we need insight. In this episode, we’re joined by @TheAlanNoble. “Practical Wisdom for Moving Through Chaotic Times” is the subtitle of his new book, "To Live Well." Alan will help us locate answers for our lives today – and for those we love – by exploring seven virtues: prudence, justice, fortitude, temperance, faith, hope, and love. The American Revolution took place against a backdrop of long religious conflict in both Europe and the colonies. Yet despite their personal flaws and their varied faith views, the Founders embraced the radical principle of freedom of conscience and religious expression, instilling it not only in our Constitution, but in the fabric of our society. What is the story behind this extraordinary development? And what does this legacy of religious pluralism mean for Christians in the much more complex America of 2026? As we celebrate America’s founding in this 250th anniversary year, we’ll discuss this story and what it means for us today with Trinity Forum Senior Fellow @DavidAFrench. As a longtime religious freedom litigator before becoming a New York Times columnist, he’ll guide us in considering the discussions during the founding, and their implications for today.
