A college degree is one of the best bets a young man can make, for his earnings, his stability, and his prospects.
Well, I WAS...
Excited for my panel with @RichardvReeves and @m_cosic on men and work at the @InnovateEconomy conference next week on American workers.

Young men are the new swing voters.
And I think what was missing in the 2024 election was a real policy agenda for boys and men, one that doesn’t turn back the clock on women. Now, that lane is wide open, and women and men have to figure this out together.

HBCU Homecoming Season without Black Men?!!🖤
Did you know there are more non-Black students (27%) at HBCUs than Black male students (26%)?
Want to make sure the beauty of HBCU Homecomings don’t go away?
Recruit more male, especially Black male, educators! @male_educators
Really good, balanced piece on porn based on @aibm_org research. As @oso says: “There is no shortage of op-eds or hot takes about what pornography is doing to society. But most of it is speculative or interpretive – there’s a lack of empirical research about what is happening, and what is out there often gets misinterpreted.”
Research on social media and AI is getting millions in funding, but porn—despite being so widespread—is still met with embarrassment, shame, and taboo, says AIBM's @oso in a recent piece for @MensHealthUK on the role of pornography in men's lives.

Boys and men are falling behind, checking out, and logging on to some of the worst corners of the internet. What can be done?
@RichardVReeves has answers, and hope. Join him and @ChristineEmba for an Evening Conversation on character, connection, and what faith communities can offer a generation adrift.
We will also award the second annual Michael J. Gerson Memorial Prize.

"Modernity never fully recovered from the attacks of Nietzsche, who claimed that secularism (which he despised) had demolished Christianity (which he also despised) and left behind only stupefying consumerism (which he also despised)." Brilliant @jon_rauch open.substack.com/pub/theunp…

If ever you needed more affirmation, parenting today is NOT like it was in the 1980s. Yes, Boomer parents; it was easier then. @BrookingsInst @RichardvReeves @aibm_org @SlaughterAM podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Wait, the replication crisis is worse in economics than psychology?
Massive replication study: Only 55% of 274 social-science findings successfully replicated.
Education was in first place, economics last, and psychology somewhere in between.

So @mattyglesias is right about the new college loan rules. It’s odd to see him being attacked from the left, given that the for-profit college sector exploits Black, Hispanic and poorer people the most as I pointed out back @BrookingsInst
