So deeply disappointed by this and really demonstrates how the liberal classes simply will not learn. At a time when Palestinians who have been subjected to 100yrs of dehumanisation, dispossession & now genocide, it is beyond the pale to suggest them naming the POLITICAL IDEOLOGY responsible & seeking justice & decolonisation inline with int'l law & conventions is what's the issue NOT the mainstream derangement syndrome we have been subjected to by those who have enabled, if not actively facilitated, the genocide! History is on our side! This is a unifying motion that finally names the key issue & it demands we do the right thing, not the easy thing. @ZackPolanski continues to have our full support & has demonstrated moral leadership, as has @MothinAli unlike others. Zionism is Racism & those refusing to acknowledge the importance of stating this still have a journey to undertake. We have NO right to tell Palestinians to wait, OUR GOVERNMENT did this!

I'm the only Jewish leader of a political party. I'm a victim of Antisemitism every day and I've made it clear Jewish people are welcome in my party. You're a Prime Minister who arms a genocide and locks pensioners up for opposing it.
Andy Burnham rules out any partnership between Labour and the Green Party due to their controversial motion declaring "Zionism is racism". 🔗 trib.al/c05KDDg

As a British Jew, I'm deeply concerned about the cynical blurring of Zionism & Judaism. Whatever our political differences, Jewish people must never face prejudice or discrimination. So after the Labour Government apologised over Gaza: why are they still arming Israel?
As a British Jew, I am deeply concerned by the Green Party's vote to declare Zionism racism. Whatever our political differences, Jewish people must never face prejudice or discrimination. Yesterday, I raised these concerns in Parliament and asked how Jewish communities can be reassured. I welcome the Home Secretary's clear response: every council, regardless of political control, must uphold equality law and protect its residents from discrimination.

Zionism is Racism 🇵🇸 @TheGreenParty became the first to take a strong stance against the genocidal state of Israel. Don't be fooled that Zionism has any relation to Judaism or Jewish people, it's an imperialist political ideology mainly supported by US Evangelical Christians.

I’m among a group that @UKLabour wants to win back. In my 60s.Voted Labour /party member 1979-2019. Is @andyburnham enough to persuade me back? Is he hell. We had a taste of democratic socialism under JC and we liked it. I will continue to vote @TheGreenParty for the foreseeable

imo @ZackPolanski's right, historically, ideologically, and ethically. No notes. And it's where the Green Party have clear water between themselves & every other major party. For a respectful, principled, sovereign, & cautious foreign policy which builds UK soft power, vote Green
Replying to @janeprinsley
He said it would be 'pretty imperial' for Britain impose its ideas about the future of the Middle East - but he did say that by his definition of Zionism ('displacement and genocide of Palestinians') it is a racist ideology.

In the last election I got more than 7,300 votes against Starmer, & the Greens over 4,000. The Labour candidate is a Starmerite. A Polanski victory will be the final kick in the teeth for Starmer & everything he stands for. By working hard together I hope we can take the seat from Labour & herald the new politics we spoke about in the 2024 election
Zack Polanski will stand as the Green party candidate in the Holborn and St Pancras byelection slated for 8 October, the party confirmed on Friday. The announcement means local members voted to select Polanski over a surprise opponent, who ran against him from within his own party. Green councillor Hamza Chowdhury announced on Monday that he was also seeking nomination, arguing that as a Camden resident he would be better placed to represent constituents than the party leader, who lives in east London. Polanski’s selection comes just ten days after former prime minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation as MP and subsequent departure from the seat. The decision means that, a year on from becoming the Green leader, Polanski could be only weeks away from being catapulted into the House of Commons. But first he must face a high stakes contest against Labour – which won the seat with a more than 11,000 majority at the last general election – with the vote due to take place just a week after many Greens decamp to Brighton for the party’s annual conference. “The Greens might be the underdog in this election, but we have the momentum and we can win,” Polanski told a meeting to announce the party’s candidate on Friday. Asked by Novara Media whether he thought a Green win in Holborn and St Pancras would increase the chances of progressive announcements in the upcoming budget, Polanski said it would “make a huge difference”. “It would be a victory that would say that in this budget, Andy Burnham and John Healey as chancellor need to think about working people in this country – and indeed, people who are unemployed or disabled, people who are really, really suffering right now. “[Housing secretary] Angela Rayner ruled out rent controls. But I imagine that a Green victory would make the Labour government think pretty quickly again,” he gave as one example. Green membership has tripled from 68,500 to over 230,000 under Polanski’s leadership, and Hannah Spencer spearheaded the party’s first ever parliamentary byelection success in Gorton and Denton in February. But with a drop in Green voting intention since Andy Burnham became prime minister in July, an uphill battle looms. An all-time high of 21% of Brits said that they intended to vote Green in March, but that dropped to just 13% in August, according to YouGov polling. Holborn and St Pancras has been a Labour seat since the constituency’s creation in 1983. Its population has only been represented by two MPs: Frank Dobson from 1983 to 2015, and then Starmer, until earlier this month. Labour’s by-election pick is Sagal Abdi-Wali, the leader of Camden council. A child refugee from Somalia, Abdi-Wali grew up in the seat and is deeply concerned with tackling inequality. Polanski has also prioritised the issue, urging the government to bring in price caps to shield people from seismic energy bills, demanded an end to the two child benefit cap, and called for measures to protect people and food supplies from extreme heat and wildfires.

In May 2024, Siobhán Fenton was canvassing in inner-city Dublin when something struck her neck: coins, raining down from a balcony. A man leaned over, shouting: "Sinn Féin traitors! Mary Lou Mohammad! Ireland is full!"

Treasury minister says it doesn't have to be either/or. But in Brick Lane, Labour approved a data centre & 44 homes - only 6 of which will be available for social rent. A Labour Government who repeatedly favour tech billionaires & property developers over council homes.
We are increasing building of social homes! It doesn't have to be either/or. And ofc, it's not just about construction jobs, it's also about all the other gains from helping other sectors grow and do more for society. AI is likely to help radically improve health outcomes for e.g.

Bewitched (1964-1972). When it became clear that Dick York could not continue with the series, William Asher considered canceling it, not only because of York's departure, but because he and Elizabeth Montgomery wanted to move on. When Dick York was replaced by Dick Sargent, the ratings dropped 13 places. However, the ratings were still high enough that the network wanted the show to go on. There was still one problem: how to explain why Darrin looked and sounded different. Many people working on the show came up with ideas, but Asher thought the viewers understood this was an actor playing a role, so he decided that the best explanation was no explanation. #oldhollywood #bewitched #elizabethmontgomery #dickyork

My latest novel is available if anyone fancies it. It's horror, but quite light in that respect. A fun and unique read set across fictional towns in 1890s Texas. The first link is for the UK, the second is for the US. amzn.eu/d/06peDcxe
