I doubt Tom Cruise viewed Digger as a political film. He's not stupid. He's careful about his star power. He saw interesting storytelling and a layered acting challenge. Actors see movies from character, inside out. Directors outside in. Cruise saw a different film than Inarritu, paralleling the movie itself.
