Polsia is about to hit $25M run rate. Next stop: $100M ARR. And things keep accelerating: $0 → $1M in 12 weeks $1M → $10M in 10 weeks $10M → $20M in 6 weeks I just published one of my favorite and most successful aisloP episodes yet: “The Run Rate.” I tell the whole story, from idea to $20M, month by month. The episode ends in Tokyo, where I went a few weeks ago. Probably the best place on Earth to take a deep breath, get inspired, and rethink what’s possible. I came back with an even bolder vision for Polsia. The road from $25M to $100M is going to look very different. Polsia v2 is coming soon.

European Commission President @vonderleyen highlighted @iceye_global in her State of the Union address. @rmodrzewski and @pekkalaurila built the world's largest SAR satellite constellation, now valued at over €10B. We were first to believe in them and are incredibly proud of what they've built.

Thank you Ligaya - OM had a huge impact to so many in and outside our community. He was a 1 of 1. He had this extraordinary ability to see where technology was going before the rest of us did. But more importantly, he understood that technology has always been about people and about community. He brought us together. He was a friend, a brother, and a generous spirit in this community. I miss him terribly.
Beautiful tribute to a true legend and deeply special human @om @tonysphere @trueventures #connectestack

There is no such thing as "non-technical" anymore. Anyone can - and should - build. @keerthinalabotu has been running weekly Scrappy Sessions at True throughout the summer. Every Tuesday evening at True SF, people demo what they built over the last week and get input from the room. We believe curiosity, initiative, speed, and being in the room with people who push you to be better are the only ingredients that matter right now. Want to join the next Scrappy Session? Comment below for an invite.

So good!!
Scrappy Sessions started this summer as a weekly gathering at the True office for builders to demo whatever they'd made that week. Early, experimental, a little weird: all welcome. On September 10, we’re taking it to a bigger stage at Connected Stack. We’ll choose 15 builders to demo live at the Presidio Theatre. The idea stays the same: bring something live, bring something new, and show us what you’ve been working on. If you’re in the early stages of building something and want to demo it, apply here: tally.so/r/eqG9xq

We like to say that with every new person we welcome to True, we are an entirely new team. Each team member adds a fresh perspective and dynamic that inspires new ways of thinking and working together, further serving our journey in being first to believe in the brightest, most creative early-stage startup founders in the ecosystem. Catherine Reller just joined True as our newest Associate, following a run as a True Fellow at @hatchforsleep, where she worked on supply chain operations and product management for the sleep health hardware brand. She graduated from Vanderbilt with degrees in computer science and math. There, she worked as an undergraduate CS teaching assistant, guiding students through intermediate software design. She also led WilSkills, Vanderbilt's largest student-run organization centered around outdoor adventure. Welcome to Team True, Catherine. We're so glad you're here!

Up to 11% of US adults are on a GLP-1. About 70% will stop within a year — and there's no drug for what comes next. @enveda just cleared the first hurdle toward building one. Nature already invented this chemistry. @enveda built the AI platform that finds it - 4X faster than the industry average. Its second consecutive Phase 1 success.

Today we're so happy to share that our Head of Platform, @madelineminshew, has been named Partner at True too. What founders remember about an investor is never the check. It's who picked up the phone at the hard moment, and who made the introduction that changed the trajectory. Madeline leads the team that does that work every day. She's been on multiple early, scrappy teams herself — at Handshake, Google, Tumblr, and Cadre — and she's built True's founder experience around it. Her work on AI-native programming has shaped where the whole firm is headed, and the founders she supports are the ones who told us how much it matters. "Getting to do that work as a Partner at True, with people I've learned from for years, is an astounding privilege," she shared. Congratulations, Madeline. It's an honor to build alongside you as you enter your next era with all of us at True.

Biology is becoming programmable. The question is what we build with it. In a new episode of the Brands Transforming Our World Podcast, @Basecamp_Res Co-founders @glen_gowers and Oliver Vince join the conversation on programming biology and how AI is changing what’s possible when we can learn from the full diversity of life on Earth, not just the fraction biology has traditionally studied. It’s a look at the intersection of AI and biology, and a frontier we’ve believed in since backing Basecamp Research early. Listen to the full conversation 🎧 open.spotify.com/episode/4NB…

True Ventures @madelineminshew says the era of tokenmaxxing is over: spending $10K a day used to be cool. Now it's "what are you doing?" "Cost is a really big thing. For a long time, token maxing was super hot, and it was cool to say, I'm spending 10K a day. And now it's like, what are you doing?" "Sometimes it's definitely worthwhile to have that spend. If you are a small engineering team and you're thinking about your token cost as an employee cost, or if you are tackling a project that needs that, great." "But oftentimes, the hardest work that needs to be done once to prove something or to build something, you can then switch to an open source model after that." "Uber's CTO has spent a lot of time talking about how they're handling this: you do some of the hardest work on the frontier models, and after that, there's a real big push across their entire portfolio right now to find good open source alternatives." @trueventures @tonysphere

True Ventures @tonysphere says Polsia's founder let Anthropic "run kind of crazy" and woke up to a $1.5 million bill. Now he's looking at Chinese open-source models: "We have a company, True, Polsia, and Ben's been really public about, he just let Anthropic run kind of crazy with Anthropic tokens, and he woke up and he had, like, a million-and-a-half-dollar bill." "He's like, no, no, that's not gonna work. I'm gonna go look at some of the Chinese models, open source models, and find the right balance." "We're in a really interesting moment where how do you find cheaper approaches to the tech stack that aren't just all Anthropic and OpenAI-driven. That's a very expensive Ferrari-type model." "They may be the best. I'm not gonna opine on that, but they may be the best. That might be worth it. But you might be able to do really great stuff with 95% of that." @trueventures @madelineminshew

Most founders demand loyalty, but you can't ask for a commitment you can't return (nobody can promise a job for life.) My advice is always to offer a tour of duty instead: a defined mission, 2–4 years, with clear outcomes for the company and the person's career.
